Desperately trying to install a bootloader capable of booting E2 on my icecrypt s3500 but i cant seem to be able to. My current bootloader is 6.40. Have tried to install a new bootloader using the plugin based installer (maxiflasher) for the s4000 (which i thought was a similar model) and using the power on, channel up, usb flash method (.ird flash image) which results in a blank screen and a flashing red light.

Does anyone have a link to a bootloader which will work? Have been trying for a week and have exhausted googles search results.

Thanks in advance.

Tom.

Thanks for the quick reply. :D

I only tried as per instructions on another forum for the s3500. The guy said he was able to install the maxiboot bootloader (Maxi-Flasher-T11+BA.08) for the s4000 on his s3500??? I have tried instructions for the openbox s4 and the octagon 918 too. Both of which are rebrands of the s3500.

Sorry, only been using sat tuners for a week lol. The learning curve is immense. Luckily ive been using Linux for the past 6 years though...

Does anyone know where i can get the bootloader i need?

Any tips?

yes, buy an E2 box if you wish to play about with E2 , like a duo or solo2

or seeing as you found out this info elsewhere, ask there as clearly its not known about on here and you were already advised against it

Hi Guys.

I did one just before Christmas and wrote these notes, the bootloader is available from the Octagon Forum.

Icecrypt S3500HDCCI to E2 – Bootloader Change.

Download UpdateLoader.Octagon.SF918SEplus. L6.46.zip and unzip it.
Format a USB stick to fat32.
Copy the above .IRD to the root of USB stick.
USB in box, then power on holding the up button to force on .IRD.
If this doesn’t work, porter the IRD on.
Make sure the reseller ID is correct to the bootloader .IRD.

Format a USB stick to fat32.
Download a 918SE+ image. (HDMU PKTeam etc).
Extract both files (ulmage and root.img) to the root of the stick.
USB in box, then power on holding the down button to read from stick.
When USB stick lights flash, let go of button.
Box lights flashing red / green is good then solid green and now E2.
Box lights flashing just red = reseller id mismatched to updated bootloader.IRD.

Hope it helps.

No problem, glad to help.

I used this routine on a unit that had no VFD, should be easier on VFD models.

Enjoy...

Hi All,

Had a go at the fatboy7 instructions above and seems I have bricked my box :(

No picture, no nothing!

Tried re-flashing with Porters Express but it just starts downloading then throws an "External Error Occurred" every time.

Anyone got any suggestions?
