I have been trying to get rid of maxiboot using the AAF recovery tool (after a bad original firmware update the box won't boot up anymore , porter express is useless because of Maxiboot) ,what happens is the Icecrypt connects to AAF recovery tool I change reseller to Altevio then I select " original uboot install" then it goes through its checks (serial cable etc) ,then the upload process to the stb starts and never stops,( my pc firewall is off)I have tried the recovery image aswell the same happens there the process never stops, the display on the icecrypt says "TDT maxiboot" any help appreciated (I am using the latest AAF Altevio 4.6 version)

I got the same, the funny thing that brought me back to the original bootloader was changing the reseller id with the plugin (from the plugin section :-) after that the box rebooted without maxiboot... (sometimes certain stuff still amazes me)

Have you tried forceing the original bootloader .IRD on via USB, works every time for me.

JaapS I can not load any plug-ins as the firmware is corrupt.

Fatboy7 yes I tried that before I tried AAF (fat32 format) (read your post),what I haven't done is a use different memory stick or just fat format usb memory stick .You say it works eve time is that with maxiboot installed ,when I try it it just runs through the options where to boot from ie flash,usb1 ,usb2 etc and never goes any further

ManikM hello again

I am not sure I have had a look but haven't found it yet.

Does sound like its not seeing the USB stick fast enough when trying to boot.

It stops the boot arguments from fully running if it sees the button pressed on power up and a USB stick (with an .IRD on it).

I've always had success with porter as well, even with a modified bootloader, as I had to do this recently to get my s4000 back to the original stock bootloader and firmware. Does sound like its a PC to STB comm's issue, I know you would already done the usual things, has anything changed in the PC's com port settings this is how I set mine.

56476

I do get porter / AAF issues in Windows 7 if I don't run them as an administrator.

Hope any of it helps.

Hi Paulipm.

Not a fix, but more of a direction, can you stop the box from loading by using hyper terminal within windows. If so what does the terminal screen show / display.

If hyper terminal can talk to the box you may be able to send the boot arguments that way.

No ,I haven't still trying ,the link you gave is a similar with the difference that I don't get any errors ,I did try AAF 4.4 from your link still nothing,I have tried putting an E2 image on instead of the Ice firmware as the maxiboot bootloader is ok but then I get a wrong file size error ,I am looking presently if I can interfere with the boot process of the Ice with hyperlink as suggested by fatboy

Did you format the usb stick as fat only & did you also check (tick) the Tftp package size 512? Without these, I was getting all sort of errors and especially as stated in the link I gave you above; I too was getting as you mentioned in your initial post 'the uploading process never stops'.

Hi Paulipm. I've just realised after looking at your picture, why some of the prevoius attempts havn't worked. You are trying to put TitanNit on.

I have just done this over the weekend:

Use AAF 4.6 and go through the recovery image process, (copy the app to the USB stick method and tick the box, USB stick in front).
The box should boot now into stock fw, now use the L1.54 bootloader plugin to update the bootloader.
After a restart it, use HDF's reseller ID plugin to change box type to your choice or leave as Atievo if using the TitanNit.
After another restart, either put the latest Icecrypt stock IRD or TitanNIt IRD onto a USB stick and update through stock FW.
Not sure is they are the same but Atevio have TitanNit for Altevo and Atemio box's.

Fingers crossed, for you mate, its been a struggle.

:hurray:YES ! thank you very much tried it tonight ,it worked ,strange as I tried this before the only difference was I forgot to plug network cable in this time (didn't realise this till I went to move the box AAF recovery tool said it was connected serial cable and network ,so you can not rely on AAF recovery tool when it says its connected to your receiver via your network worth remembering ,it certainly let me up the garden path) I formatted usb pendrive (FAT32)copied the recovery file from the AAF file on to the USB pendrive (urecoverAT.app) and it is now booting up in Altevio (looks very much like Icecrypt) also I would like to thank everybody else who helped me along.:hurray:

Mate, I'm so glad your sorted.

By any chance did you go the TitanNit route, I gave it a go last weekend (briefly), and havn't had a chance to revisit yet.

Cheers...

No Fatboy7 I put the AAF recovery image "urecoverAT.app"(copy taken from the AAF file)on a pendrive (fat32) and used AAF (4.4 version)to install recovery image like I said before I had tried this before the difference being the receiver was not connected to my local network (this time)just the null modem cable although it said it was connected giving the right ip address etc..I also have since found that AAF says it has changed the reseller ( goes through the motions )when infact it hasn't ,I am still stuck with maxiboot (comes up on the front display of the receiver ) for the moment, although the receiver says I am on altevio 1.12 boot loader ,I think i got to find next why AAF isn't connecting to the receiver via my intranet (the receiver is working now and what ever version of firmware or reseller you use doesn't seem to make a lot of difference so I am in no rush to get it all back right and up date I have already spent to much time on this box certainly not my best buy)Update ,got rid off maxiboot using the HDF maxi flasher plugin (plugin section) am running 1.54 bootloader now

2 questions ,I want to change the reseller now back to Icecrypt fom ativio (I don't want to use AAF ) can I use this

OCTAGON_leviathan_reseller_change r_v13.rar (283.9 KB, 15 views) also I seem to remember there being a plugin for this but haven't come accross it yet can anybody point me in the right direction

fatboy7

I used this one.

It is the latest L1.54 boot loader with the options to change seller ID only (no modified boot loader).

Think the code is 0815, then pick your receiver.

Its a stock firmware plugin.

Hope it helps.

paulipm
10-03-2013, 08:52 PM
Thanks fatboy7 but I used that to get back to 1.54 bootloader didn't change the reseller I entered code 0815 and selected icecrypt (I know it should as i have used it in the past)again it said it had but checking the system tells me I am till on altivio

Thats good (did the same for me), if you pick a icecrypt stock firmware of choice, stick it on a stick and update in current stock firmware, and when you reboot, it will be L1.54 (stock) and it will say icecrypt as vendor etc.

Hey getting close.

paulipm
10-03-2013, 11:49 PM
Thanks faboy7 This is what happened First wouldn't allow icecrypt firmware update tried altevio firmware refused that when I tried icecrypt again it worked (don't know why)I am all sorted now did learn a bit more not sure if I want to go back using a modified bootloaders it was quite nice the options it gave you but when things went txts up the aaf software wasn't that clever neither

I'm glad its all sorted, you must be over the moon.

Right while its all good and back to full stock, sell it !. - Only kidding.

I know exactly how you feel, I broke mine numerous times, but kind of happy with it now on latest HDMU E2.

But I don't blame anyone (except Icecrypt), for wanting to stick with stock FW, just a shame it has all of its problems.

Good Luck mate.
