I have done it a long time ago, but cannot remember how I did it.

How do I play mp3 files on my vu duo?

I have copied some old radio shows in mp3 format onto the vu hard drive but I cannot see any way of playing them
I tried the inbuilt movie player but it just ignores them.

Do I have to use a usb drive?

try merlin music player or possibly mediaplayer

you can play any file from a nas , or mounted hdd , or mounted usb stick

Tried merlin and media centre. Both installed and found the mp3's but neither give any sound.

I am guessing perhaps a codec problem????

Off to bed now, so will try a usb drive in the morning. I think that may be what i did when I last played mp3's on the vu but it was at least a few years ago.

I am guessing perhaps a codec problem????

1) remove the adobe cache - rm ~/.adobe -rf
2) install hal & hal-info - sudo apt-get install hal hal-info

3) reinstall adobe player - sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer --reinstall

Open your browser and you should be good to go !!

both play mp3 just fine on my duo in bh from hdd , nas and usb stick

maybe your conversion has an audio not supported by the programs ? (as you say, a codec issue)

try a normal audio music mp3 like I have just done to prove the concept

As far as I can tell, they are just normal bog standard mp3's, but I will fiddle with a converter tomorrow.

this solved media issue with inux mint....
May well be plugin issue with H/W..

Sorry dog-man,
i had wrong Tab open that related to a similiar issue, but As usual after the Rugby, I am out of Kilter ...
Sounds like Codec issue /....

Thats all ! getting it to plug in can be a bit of a typing tutorialthough....

Problem sorted.

I downloaded an audio converter and even though the files were showing as normal mp3's, I converted them to mp3's and they now play fine!

They were definitely showing as mp3's. Even in the audio converter.
