Hi All,

I've been wondering what the on screen message service error means on my S4000. I have had this message for a while on all channels at 27.5w I thought these where scrambled in biss but the box doesn't say they are scrambled. I think from what I've read they changed something on there scrambling.

I now get this message on a few other channels on other sats, its not a problem because these are channels I wouldn't be watching anyway, just curious as to what this message means.

I've looked at the manual done a search on here can't find a mention of it.

On a side note my recordings don't have program synopsis anymore (used to). Anyone else had this.

Thanks

Hi sounds to me like you are off postition with your dish alignment. Try picking one sat and re-aligning it while looking at the quality measure for optimum position

Hi,

Thanks for your quick reply geofh. I don't think its that just gone to 27.5w signal level is 96% and quality is at 97% the other channels it happens on are also strong signals mostly on 13e.

Thanks again appreciate your help.

Loads of channels appear in listings that are either not really there, place holders or not sending or have very weak or unknown signal output that common STB's do not understand. 422 feeds are one example.

Hi,

I've just tried a few channels on 13e Eurosport and Eurosport2 NE come up with this message both of these channels don't seem to be scrambled according to the box but I expected them to be scrambled.

I do look at feeds now and again although I don't know what 422 is, but I seem to get this message on actual channel broadcasts. I've just checked and it seems these channels are in fact scrambled. This happens on very few channels so its not really a problem just baffled.

Thanks donki your help is appreciated.

Hi,

On 7w HDTV is perfect reception with a signal quality of 43% Fox movies and MBC perfect also with 52% quality, on the same satellite KTV 1 & 2 which I could recieve last week gives me service error message signal quality of 47% on these two channels I realise this sat reception varies with the time of day always view in the evening. I would put this down to a weak signal but for the fact that this message also appears on channels with a very strong signal.

I thought no signal would be the onscreen message if the quality was too low.

By the way I may have led you to think the dish was out of line with my comment about 27.5w on that sat the only channels I have tuned are the BBC ones and they are all on the same transponder, but it is a mega strong signal.

Could this be a problem with my box or me being paranoid.

Thanks again

Hi,

I think you are right I have a sat card in my pc that I rarely use though I know it is working properly I tried scanning these frequencies and it didn't find anything at all.

I now know what this onscreen message is if it crops up again.

Many Many Thanks
