I have the Usals set for my longtitude and latitude of my house.
Then my tuners are set to Tuner A - "Usals" & Tuner B - "Second cable of Motorised LNB Tuner A".
Any channels I choose and the dish just goes there.

It all depends on whether or not your motorised dish has been installed and setup correctly using USALS or if it is slightly misaligned you may have to use Diseqc 1.2

Set the 5402 back up and then enter into the Menu and Motorized setting part where you will see if you have USALS set if you do click on it and it will give you your co-ordinates if it says Diseqc 1.2 then set the Solo2 up as Diseqc 1.2

as in Post 2,
Tuner A - Usals.
Tuner B - Second Cable of Motorised LNB Tuner A.

OP has a fixed dish as well as motorised so how he has it set at the moment is correct unless he wishes to switch round and put Motor on A and Fixed on B

It may be easier to load a preconfigured channel list to the Solo2 say something like Cateseye E2 list, this will save the scanning part of the operation

yeh i have fixed dish set to tuner A... motorised set to tuner B
still cant get motorised tuner to work grr..
on my technomate all i used to do is press the sat button on the remote and pick which sat i wanted then search what channel i wanted (mainly 3pm football)
is there a way to control the motorised dish in the same way?

I would have the motor on tuner A and the fixed dish on tuner B , like DARK CLOUD has his
Tuner A - Usals.
Tuner B - Second Cable of Motorised LNB Tuner A.
or
Tuner A - Usals.
Tuner B - fixed dish on 28.2e
then when you select a channel the motor is moved , same as on the technomate and a spiderbox
I know what you are asking about as I too move my motor using the spiderbox the same way as you did , selecting a satellite followed by a channel
not sure if this can be replicated on the linux boxes

if you put your tm5402 onto the motor and make sure usals is set correctly for your location, then check a few sats
if you get thor and 28e and 30w and 39e and 42e then you are probably set correctly on the motor
its only if the tm5402 fails on usals that the motor may be setup incorrectly
but if the tm5402 is ok on usals, then its just a case of setting tuner A usals to that same lat and long on the solo2 , and trying the same sats

On the technomate receiver in the main menu under satellite settings and motorized settings you should be able to see if you where using one of the following options USALS if so the it should give you your Longitude and latitude details if it is set as Diseqc 1.2 then you will have to enter each individual satellite number and tune each satellite to this setting

its either on usals , or its on diseqc 1.2 , cant be on usals 1.2 as it doesnt exist
digicon explained how to set up diseqc 1.2 , which is find manually and store using sat position setup I think
basically move the motor to each position and store it, which is how its always been for diseqc 1.2 as its the older method of moving a diseqc motor
usals uses your longitude and latitude to find and calculate automatically from your location details and is the more modern method which most modern motors allow for
you have also not said if it works ok using this tm5402 using either or both methods (my darkmotor does)

I doubt that any channel lists are image dependent
I have used catseye channel lists on various boxes and images

would catseye overwrite the current vix chnnel list or would it run along side it?

When you upload a new channel list it overwrites the previous one on the box
