Copy HD Movie to usb

OK,..running Blackhole.
I have an HD movie on the "/hdd/movie" and it's about 7.4gb.
I have tried to copy the movie onto my laptop to eventually insert on a usb3.0 stick (16gb).
Both, VUCC via web control and Dreambox Control Center via FTP, seem to dump me out after about 4gb,
and the wifi needs to be reset on the BT Hub.
Is there an easier way to do this if I put the stick in the front port ?.
What menu should I be looking at ?.

you cannot do this with a stick due to fat32 limitations, as you found out

as long as your pc or laptop is formatted in ntfs, just ftp from the vu hdd direct to the pc using an ftp program

if your pc is fat32 you will have to create a suitable data storage partition in ntfs first
