ive never owned a dm800 , but when my dm500 became messed up and stopped booting i would use dreamup to flash a known working image with a null modem cable .

Yes, always start by uploading a new fresh image. Usually works fine !

the simple answer is to reload the backup image you made before you put the new list in :mofo:

And if you don't have a backup image you will need to reload a copy of the image it had from a source on the internet.
The PLI one Echelon uploaded a few days ago is very good but Dream Elite is quite user friendly too.
If you don't want to use dreamup (for example if you don't have a serial port or lead) then
1) pull the power plug and re-insert it whilst holding the front panel switch in. It should then boot as far as stage one and display the IP address.
2) Put the IP address in your PCs browser and it should display a help screen with the option to load (flash) an image.
3) Locate the image file (*.nfi) and select it.
4) Wait for it to respond with 100% lick "finish"
You now have a blank image (ie. no channels/satellites). I prefer to scan for my own channels but before you do that it is probably worth FTP'ing a new current satellites.xml file to the correct location (usually /etc) and CHMOD'ing it to 644.

I thought you could put a clone image on a genuine box but not vice-versa.
Be nice if someone knows for certain though.

I had the same problem 2 weeks ago. Turned out to be crossEpg database kept messing my box up. Nearly binned the box after I installed image after image.
