Received this box yesterday to replace my hummy 2000 hdci.
Useing the same dish and configuration for the hummy ( nothing changed ).
Problems are :-
Cannot get the DISEqC 1.2 to work useing the instructions in the user guide.
Can move the dish with goto, but must then rescan the channels on this sat thus eraseing stored sat. channels.
Have done a factory restore and upgraded software to version 1.01 jan 29 2013. to no avail.
All suggestions welcome.

Have you selected DiseqC 1.2 in the setup and saved.( Sat setup then motorized settings)
Scan the sats in one by one manually when using diseqC and save each one as you go.
101 is original s/ware no emu in other words.
There is 101 p, 102 p, and addon 002. also s/cams.

Works fine for me on Disecq 1.2 just the support isnt there for this box no update patches since March and softcam keys also dont get updates regular like most other stb's , but apart from that its an okay box
When your on a sat with good signal ensure Disecq 1.2 is selected in motorized setting menu then scroll down to save press ok and Select yes if prompted
check channel on that sat by pressing Sat button on remote and choosing satellite your on .
i dont use any channel lists i prefer to edit my own list by adding the TP's and scanning via PID Search as full scans i find will miss various channels .
its a very easy box to work with but like i said other boxes get much faster and much better support .
good luck : )

Softcams can be done yourself with the Technomaker 1.5 program as this is what most uploaders use to post the softcam.key file on various forums its not a secret or anything and available via a google search, as for patches the last one was March this year and a test one was released today apparently should not have been as it was leaked unintentionally i believe that this patch was to finally include the UPC EMU that is already available on the little brother the 5302 & 5502.
To say this receiver has now reached its 3rd birthday and is still supported every 2-3 months is enough for me, I certainly could not say the same about some other brands of receiver around the same age that have had support dropped like a brick

There is certainly issues with todays leaked test patch ..box hangs on TMOnline ..tried a few softcams but none of them worked for 1W UPC
last working patch was issued 11 march 2013 thats almost 4 months ago now ..PVR playback Still not working ..the cheaper 5302 & 5502 more useless boxes were updated last week with UPC Emu and new patch ..the TM5402 HD maybbe is 3 years old and was scrapped ... suppliers now only keeping stock the Newer TM5402 M2 HD since Jan this year ..but even now most suppliers dont even wanna stock TM5402 M2 HD due to its lack of support and bugs .
Im actually surprised that some Cams like Dragon or Diablo have not yet got this UPC Emu ??
at least with a CI Module it then is possible to insert this into a TM5402HD and problem solved .
but again i guess support just isnt happening for Cams either whatever reason ?

Hi Barney,
I am not sure what kind of figures they sold in ireland of this box but in the UK its TM's best selling receiver and that is why they brought out the M2 version with the so called Anti-Clone chip built into it, I agree its not an everday use kind of receiver for most including myself but out of all the so called closed source range this is the best i have owned so far, It's Tuner sensitivity is second to none and as for cams and BISS keys it still works with the BBC channels on 27.5° west even when others including Enigma2 receivers fail thats why its a popular choice with ex-pats i suppose.
As for the UPC EMU it will come i have no doubt as it has been available on the 5302/5502 for a couple of weeks and even if you cannot wait and want the UPC then you can use the UPC EMU by Dream team and connect an RS232 from a laptop or PC directly into the back of the 5402 and run the SSSP on the receiver to get the keys direct from dream teams emulator thats one way around it you cant do that on many receivers

i agree with you digicon its got a lot going for it even much more than many other boxes ,
its really only missing that new software patch for upc and pvr playback bug fix .
i had high hopes seeing finally a phantom test patch today but unfortunatley there seems more bugs and mistakes than proper correct fixes with that test patch that was leaked out your right it should never have been posted untill at least it was tested first at the very least .
we know the problems now so lets hope Phantom and devolopers can take note and fix these small errors with a good legit update patch .
cheers .

1.Could i know which Cpu they use in China i can copy for 2 days lol...Anti clone chip...who still believe this bully any more propaganda..
Which kind Chip set own Anti clone ? Can you let me know....?
2>tuner Sensitivity can you gave us record which tuner TM use and why is more sensitive ...This propaganda tuner Sensitive is to old to TM ..lol
3.SSSP Mode is part of Twin protocol is 9 years Old..just to let you know ,no one use that any more .....
Any way Tm is Good machine ,but expensive for what is doing, but very old style and left behind from most of other Brands. This is the Reality if You or Technomate like it or not.....
I think Technomate 5000 series is a breath of fresh air, Especially the sensitivity of the tuner, if neither the tuner or software are anything special, both combined work very well compared to my past receivers, on both Manual and Motorised settings.
Iv had a 2 TM5400HDs for around a year, and its a cracker, simple to use, very reliable
I think the grassroutes of TMs success is keeping it simple, its the picture on the screen im more concerned about, the less headache obtaining it, the better.
Iv had a few receivers since the Dmac days, including Dreamboxes, Spiderbox, Echo, Manhattan, Tm1500, and without doubt without paying silly money, the Tm wins hands down on virtually every aspect, in Ci and CS eras, for me, apart from a little initial setup, its pretty much fit and forget.
Fair enough, a few more enhancements to the pvr and epg, would be good for the money.
I have found this info very useful to the point that I have got one on order, and am told about running it through my router. My router is quite away from the receiver and have seen this "TECHNOMATE WIFI WIRELESS BRIDGE". Has anyone had any experience with it.
thanks
Andrew

Only bought this box for the extra sensitivety hype, thinking it would open the TPs on astra 2F in anticipation of the astra 2E launch.
My old hummy hd 2000 has a better tuner :-
TP 10714 astra2 sat 1N
Hummy sig 98 qual 95
tm 5402 sig 97 qual 92
No lock on the 2F TPs in both cases so back to the drawing board.
Location central southern norway.

Different receivers give different signal and quality numbers does not mean its pulling in a better signal

Perhaps if Darkman reads this post he could through light on this.
Goodluck anyway. lecky.

Thats as maybe, it`s known fact that fringe reception has locality variables.
But can you lock your TM on these TPs 10964H 10994H 11052H 11127V and 11024H these are from astra 2F @ 28.2E?
I can with the hummy ( fair weather with pixellation ) but not with the TM.
The hummy drives the motor, the TM is on the same dish and LNB, dish 100cm offset with inverto black ultra quad.
The tuner sensitivity hype was why I bought the TM ( maybe it`s a lemon ).

No I can`t and nor on my old IPbox 9000 but some weeks ago on this STB.
At the moment I get the signal from 2F on my Satlink WS-6918P. The LNB is a quad Invacom and I do the tests close to dish(1.5m cable) to get the best results.
The TM 5402 tuner sensetivety is good but not the best, as the readings are even better on the IPbox?

The problem you face with the 5402 M2 version is that there are literally only 3 firmware versions available for it at the moment and any of these could affect Tuner sensitivity maybe a Tuner driver problem been over looked perhaps, Where as the Original 5402 has over 35 firmwares available for it so more to test and play with so to speak. What i do know is that they are working on a new firmware which includes the UPC emulator so maybe hang fire and wait for that.
The only other receiver i could recommend would be the Dr HD series again these are rebadged TM,Blade receivers so i would have thought same tuner would be used but they do have very different firmware.
As for the Diseqc 1.2 problem you could have downloaded your channel list from the 5402 via USB and edited it with Clarke Tech studio editor and entered your Positioner numbers in manually to the corresponding satellite in the list save and then re-upload via USB, This is how i do it on mine

Thanks for everyones imput you`ve all been most helpful regarding the TM.
However I have reverted to the hummy until I can get more and better info regarding tuner sensitivity with other boxes ( heard the sharp tuner does the biz , but which one ).
Will close this thread as it has served it`s purpose with my queries.
