I know the forum is satellite related
However,
Is it worth introducing a section for IPTV
Hardware
Software
Hacks
Reviews
Etc

What do we think?

Yes sounds a good idea.

In fact I've just subscribed to Al Jazeera using VPN. Looks pretty good so far. $50 + $35 for a year for all the channels.

Might not get EPL for that. They are announcing package and prices for EPL any day soon.

They'll have to put the EPL games on a new set of channels then. True the channels showing them are not listed on the website yet...

Either I'll be in luck having signed up yesterday if prices go up or they'll be putting EPL on different channels!

h**p://www.**********.com/order/premier-league.html seems to indicate EPL might be on +5 to +10 channels so fingers crossed... I don't know how accurate that is though.

That's how I inturprated it +5 to +10 needing both packages $50 + $30

It said English EPL on the website when I signed up

+5 to +10 may well be true, but what is missing is " Which Satellite(s) " are they proposing to use.???

Shouldn't matter as this is IPTV service.

Shouldn't matter as this is IPTV service.

As the OP stated " I know the forum is satellite related ", so members intending to use other sources would also like to know which sats JSC intend to use to show all of these EPL Games, and furthermore this thread was started as a proposal to have a deisgnated IPTV Section started.

Yes, let's please stick to the topic...IPTV

It won't matter to IPTV which satellite it's on, it'll be on the IPTV system.

Anyone got any IPTV dongles they want to talk about?

Just got myself an android mini tv (wifi) dongle.

Has XBMC & Navi-X on it.

Thousands of live tv channels to be had, some very good, & some poor channels, the Viasat channels work & look good.

Still testing.

So, you can add XBMC channels?

my lad bought the matricom mx2 with "jellybean 4.2.2" offering from the "@uction site" for less than a ton delivered (uk)

has navi-x, icefilms , xbmc and all sorts on it (check it out on the website for full details)

So, you can add XBMC channels?

XMBC has loads of stuff in it but still under development. The sticks themselves are OK for surfing and the like and will playback IPTV streams but pretty awful WiFi on MK8XX's like mine make it virtually impossible to play any local HD media over the Network. Even SD is problematic. I got myself a LAN/USB adaptor only to find it actually made things worse and then discovered its max throughput was a mere 12Mb/s. DOH!! :)

Will do iFlims & Netflux but I could not get HD to play from either during my trials.

Nice idea but wish now I'd waited now as there are much improved sticks with faster processors and more memory to be had but that will all have to wait until I have finished enjoying my new Satellite toy when it arrives this week (I hope).............:)

Been looking at Internet TV (just in case we can no longer get satellite)
Have:
Samsung smart tv
Dreamboxes
Roku
Pcs
Mac

My 'take' on it all is. There isn't one device other than a pc/mac that will do everything.
Even then, the pc can't share the desktop with the TV.

SkyGo only works on windows/mac .... (That was until they released their own amended roku)

I was building a Pi with XBMC, but it isn't any better than a smart tv

I think u have to be specific about what you want, before buying (nothing new there then!)

I thought sky go also worked on android too (am sure there is an android app for this) ?

the mx2 has a hdmi port and plugs directly into the tv

just havent got around to finding my sly login details yet in order to access it

in which case it should work on an mx2 as well

Hi

Ok let me weigh in with my opinion on a dedicated iptv box - namely the super iptv box (english) - it can be had for around £300 (maybe a little more if you get stung with customs & vat ) - and it has approx 90-100 channels - a mix of hd and sd - all are in english - some have chinese subtitles at bottom - but programmes all in english.

The good thing about this box is it isnt just sports but also has film and entertainment and news channels as well........it has fox, hbo, universal channels etc - the picture quality goes from poor internet stream quality to very very good hd quality.

There are a range of sport channels which show epl including 3pm - new channels are added all the time - at beginning of last season 6 new channels were added for all the epl games.

No dish required - just a broadband connection or wifi - would recommend min 4meg bb - but obviously the faster the better.

No monthly payments - it comes with 12 months viewing activated - renewals are approx £75 a year - system been around for a few years so offers some security that its not going to just disappear.

Major thing to be careful of when importing one is that you get one with a remote control in ENGLISH (!)

Overall its a really good box with a good selection of channels that you can take anywhere (even on holiday) - even without the epl channels.

I also have a second box arriving later today thats a different iptv system - so will report on that in the next few days - hope this helps some people.

I have also seen a uk/ireland based iptv system thats approx £400 - £479 to buy and then £250 a year to renew - its main selling point is the al jazeera channels - but it just seems too much money to be honest - and has no movies etc on it either........but will keep an eye on it.

I have been keeping my eye on this box.

Is it better for XBMC on this box against say XBMC on an Android TV box ?

haven't tried xbmc on an android box, however tlbb is runs xbmc natively, and works really well,Granted there's a couple of little niggles but the team are well aware of them and are in the process of fixing them, bearing in mind this is the first product from them, they have done really well

Are these changes on IPTV now or are you just talking satellite ?

These are on IP. I think they cost $135 a year about £93 at the mo. You need a middle east proxy to sign up and something like s openplay smartDNS at $5 a month. Quality on my lappy looks good and I can play it to my TV thro' my HDMI output

considering this now,is it in HD quality or thereabouts ?,so i basically pay monies to join up and can stream to my PC from the website .eliminating the need for an iptv box or other streaming device,,do i need the proxy just to sign up or do i need it to veiw also ??

checked out the website,,only thing for me having been a bit spoilt by HD footy the match they are streaming free looks lower than SD quality wise

i think you are mixing things up with the online service.

I know satellite have launched the HD channels, but i was just wondering if those with a set top IPTV box has also
had their channels updated to include the HD ones.

I have an IPTV box from last December & at the moment its still just +1 to +10 still just in SD.

i have signed up for Al jazz online IP channels for $135 @£93 this season plus i already have a smart DNS account using overplay at $4.99/month.

last season i had AD sports running via a PC underneath my TV which was ok, but what i want to know is can i stream these channel via my VU+ Solo2 or DM800, as this would be more favorable as they output in HDMI.

i have seen the plugin where you get a load of free IPTV channel but they are too hit and miss, so i would like to use my own official streaming subscription and have all the channel available to turn over on my STB if possible.

would really appreciate some help on this one, if not then i will just stick with my PC/TV combo.

Thats what I'm after also. The streams works fine running from my PC via hdmi to my LG 46" but I would rather use my vu duo or a dedicated box like an android media player box. Anyone know if it can run on something like this -
