Turned on my vuduo today and just got a red light to the left of the display.

Anyone know anything about this?

I have doen a quick bit of research and it seems its either a capacitor gone or the power supply itself.

I shall try replacing a certain cap first.

Any advice gratefully received.

Replace the caps first and go from there, I had the same.

From what I have read, it is usually one cap responsible (C807 - I think), so I will try and source a replacement for it today and see what happens.

How many caps did you replace?

I have been told that C807 is the likely culprit, but when I go inside the case later, I may well see a number of bulging caps and I will replace them too.

I replaced 3 from memory, the caps used are not the greatest quality ones.

No bulging caps found so far, but will dig out a magnifying glass with built in light to have a closer look.

Also look out for staining or oily looking residue on the PCB around the capacitors, sometimes the electrolyte leaks out before the caps bulge up with the pressure.

Just about to remove C807 now.

Had to go and buy a new soldering iron as mine had packed up.

Now fixed.

replaced C807 with a higher grade capacitor and all is now fine (so far).

I guessed the power supply was still ok as I could just hear the hard drive whirring away quietly.

It just went through the upgrade procedure so seems to be working fine for now. :D

found this info

vu duo repair

the higher the heat rating the better

fix the 'red led only problem'
just replace C807 220uF 16v with a new one or with 330uF 16v on the motherboard
or replace C807 220uF 16v with a new 330uF 16v on the motherboard (or 25v or 35v)
