I currently run openpli 3 on my vuduo.
I want to try the latest BH image, so have prepared a usb in the normal way. I have done this many times before.
The image on the usb is not being seen and the vu just boots up to openpli as normal.
Anyone know what the problem could be?
I have tried 3 different usb's including two which I have used for this purpose previously.

Yes and always have done.

If I plug in the usb when the vu is on and displaying a channel, I get the following message "No displayable files found on this medium".
So the usb it being detected, but the damn thing won't upgrade for some reason.
Maybe an openpli 3 update broke it???

Tried both Fat & Fat32.
I believe it is supposed to be Fat32???
Unless it's a big key? Could that be the problem?
I forget what the size limit is for fat.

Maybe I will try NTFS then and see what happens.
Can't see it causing a problem.

Formatted it with NTFS and something different is happening so I assume it is now working.
On the display, I have "StaUSing..............".
I assume it is loading and formatting my HD.

I am getting nowhere!
Tried the rear usb port and its as if the stick is not in the port although the usb stick led is flashing.
Looks like I will have to use a null cable but I will keep trying with the usb option for a while longer.

I used a 16GB stick on my DUO2 formatted FAT32 to install BH on it. Used the front USB port. Do you have all the required files and folder structure on the Pen?

Yes, all there.
I have done this many times previously, so I don't know what is going on here.
Perhaps my vu is faulty or perhaps the current image (openpli 3) has for whatever reason blocked the ability to flash via usb.
I can't even do it with an openpli image on the usb stick.

I am now getting very briefly for only a second "Reading USB", then it reverts to starting...... and will boot up as normal.
I have no idea what is wrong here and I am very close to throwing it out the window! :)

"Reading USB", then it reverts to starting"
When it does this then the files on the usb are not there or in correct format..with it briefly searching the usb and finding nothing to flash...
Or it would say starting and then stay on reading usb and then erasing/programing etc..
Not sure this help but i think the problem lies with the files on the usb..

(And YES it has to be in FAT32)
1. Format you memory stick on your PC FAT32.
2. Create a directory in called vuplus.
3. Within the the vuplus directory create another folder called duo.
4. Unzip the USB upgrade files into that directory.
5. Power off your VU+ Duo.
6. Insert memory stick into front USB slot.
7. Power on your VU+ Duo and follow the on screen instructions
(If using openpli just extract from rar and then drag extracted folder to usb)
(other than that usb is not liked)
It sounds like it's not finding what it's looking for on the USB. Could they have changed the file directories or something?

As far as I can tell, everything is correct.
It is fat 32. All the files are there.
Perhaps my VU has become very fussy and doesn't like any of my usb sticks.
I shall have to source a few more.

I downloaded an addon that allowed me to do an image install from the USB, so I have now installed the BH image.
I shall play with that tomorrow. Sadly, I have work tonight! :(

i had the same problem loading latest BH images,,,taking out the usb stick at the back as i allways have in with picons solved my problem..
so if any usb port is used at the back remove it and try again. with the usb stick loaded with image in the front usb port.

Dog-man, how did you sort this out as I am having this problem and it's driving me crazy. I've done all the steps you've done.
Much appreciated.

Branded USB drive only on VU Kingston recommended

It was just a matter of finding a brand of usb drive that was accepted.
In my case, it was a sandisk usb drive.
I now keep that just for my vu when I need it and all my others are for use with a PC.

i always use the blackhole images. recently
i tested a pli after reading good reports, but
when i tried to re-load the latest bh v 208 image
my usb stick wasn't recognised and after asking
on the vu forum, i was told that this happens and to
first format the stick before any updating then use a
earlier image version first then load the latest image
i then flashed bh207 that flashed on the box, i then flashed
the latest 208 and that worked perfectly

I did try formatting the usb stick in my vuduo but it still didn't work on several brands of usb stick.
Only a sandisk stick would work for me.
