Help with maps (general and USA) on old unit

Hi - First of all thanks for all the great info on here - finally manged to get my unit updated to recent maps thanks to Russell's post here

Now a couple of questions:
I am using an old Navigo WinCE5.0 with TomTomNavigator 7 - Navcore 7.910 (9185). I think this is the latest Navcore I can install on this device so best to leave well alone on that front.

I previously got several maps - put them on the SD card and they just dont show up in the Tomtom - whereas I believe that compatible maps show up and the message "not activated comes up"......am I correct in thinking this is because I didnt have version for Navcore 7.4** & up as per above post. I got the 900 version and got it working....assume the 915 version on the sticky would also work?

So how do I tell which Navcore version the map is suitable for?

I am after a USA map but the one I have doesnt show up...maybe for Navcore 8+?

mgkelly take all look at this chart for v.915 by "Ingazu" you will see which map versions work with which nav-core
