This is not my receiver but belongs to a friend (but I seem to get the problems:()
Switching to standby either by the remote control or the box it switches back on again within 5 seconds.
No patches have been applied - it's virtually straight out of the box.
I wondered if either there was a patch for this or if he should return to the seller for a replacement.

Thanks for the quick reply - that looks hopeful :)
I'll have a look around the patches section and hope that I can find it.
In the meantime if anyone knows where the patch is or has it I'll be most grateful
Found it here

Patches as above has been installed but the 'Standby' problem still exists despite several efforts.
Still, I will not be beaten even though it's not my box
Many thanks for the help so far

Patches were applied as your advice in post 4 and everything seems to be working now
System Info
Hardware Version 01.00
Software Version 01.03
Date May 9 2013
I'm used to a 7000HD and 9000HD and IMHO the 6000HD is not as user friendly especially with sat selection, favourites and moving channels
Channel lists seem to be few and far between compared to earlier receivers. Then again, I suppose, it's a case of getting used to something different

The latest is September 6 and not May 9
HW Version : 01.00
SW Version : 01.11
Date : Sep 6 2013
Do the procedure correctly and then you can give us your feedback .

Right, I'll try again.
Also I am having difficulty in backing up a channel list - I am doing the following
Menu>Image Backup>User Database it then shows an empty FAT32 USB drive
I then go across to Add new file
I have tried adding a new file name(User Database) then confirming on the floppy disc icon then nothing.
At this rate I guess the best thing to do is a complete factory reset and start again.
I don't mind doing favours for people but patience is running low now - but I will learn and not be beat.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.

you should do a factory reset after each and every firmware install m8
as for backing up channel lists or keys etc, its explained in there https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?163409-6000-HD-S-W-backup-Functionality
the date in the info section tells you the patch date, and so it needs to have the september date in it , not may or whatever
so when you have the latest date, you know its up to date - simples

After creating your new file name(User Database) and confirming on the floppy disc icon then you have to press OK again so your channel list can be saved .

Success.
Thanks to all the help it's now working fine and the software is up to date.
I now realise that all the info I needed was available but it seemed to be in so many different places.
For me it's been a frustrating experience but it all adds to the fun:rolleyes:
Many thanks again:respect-010:

it usually is until somebody bothers to collate it all and add it to the FAQ threads, which is why I did so

I have printed off Aldo's setup guide for Spiderbox 6000HD and I cannot get started !
I unpacked my new 'Spiderbox' today, I got it a few weeks ago, and plugged in . It is a smartbox 6000.
I downloaded the '579' patch to a USB stick , it came up as 'attachment.php; , and tried to load it into the STB.
The only file that showed was an old '.key' file which was on the stick when I was using my Spiderbox 9000HD no sign of the patch .
What can I do to get started ?
@huston
Please read post#4 in the following thread:
https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?165680-Fat-32
then please give any info update so that others may help you.
and the attachment.php. is down to ei11 or win 8.1
try firefox or renaming to WinRAR or zip
also you should start your own post no h I jacking plz

As I saw info about patches I thought this was where I could get help. Sorry if this is incorrect.
I run windows 7 and the suggestion to rename the file to .zip has worked and given me a HD6000 file in the upgrade section.
Will now continue and see how it goes.
Thanks for the help and quick response.
