Hi,

I have the task of fixing a S1600chd and making sure it takes the line. I am used to skyboxes (openboxes) where you have the option to upgrade by USB and it works. This one is kind of complicated even for a technically savy person. Can someone nicely break it down for me (and other users out there)

1 Does this box take gift cards?
2 In what format? Cline or MG or some other type?
3 Is it possible to stick it on the box by usb or is it only manually?
4 Can someone give us the manual way of doing it?
5 Any other information would be appreciated.

Thanks Nick

in reply to your list of questions.
1. yes there are a number of different so called "gift card" clients within the patched firmware.
You will need to have contact the gift supplier to activate....open...etc etc
2. all formats supported
3. yes to both USB and manual.
To load the details via USB make a txt file named "hsdata.cfg" edit your line into this txt as per these example
To enter a Nline then it should be presented in this format:
newcamd~server.url.org~port~user~ password~010203040506070809101112 1314
To enter a Cline then it should be presented in this format:
cccamd~server.url.org~port~user~p assword

server.url.org=your server address
port=your port number such as 12000
user=your user name
password=your password

then insert the USB into the S1600 go into the network menu>clients>press the white button to load the cfg.

4. The Manual method to enter your line is go into the network menu>clients and enter your line details via the remote control by editing the samples that already exist.
You can select the client protocol from the large list supported.
Finally don't forget to click on the active option to make it connect.

5. Not really complicated for a technically savvy person maybe a little different to what your use too thats all.

Much appreciated sir. I will go and test it tonight. Mine is a CCcam. I take it instead of saving it as a CCcam.cfg I have to save it as hsdata.cfg?

yes save the final edited file as hsdata.cfg onto a USB memory stick.
Insert this stick into the S1600 which has already been loaded with the "patched" version of its firmware.
Go onto the main menu>Internet>Net Client Config> press the find button to load the "hsdata.cfg"
A on screen message should appear asking you "Do you want to read config data from usb" select yes and the receiver should read your config and reboot.
If it has gone correctly your line should now be working.

I struggled for more than 2 hours with this. it kept saying update failed. I ended up trying the steps below and I am getting closer now.

Put this line first :
cfg~0~0~00000000
and then the lines with the server informations as this :
cccamd~server~port~user~password

As for the manual edit I am stuck on the port. The box is asking for a 5 digit port number and mine is a 4 digit one. This box is so not set up friendly.

put a zero in front of the 4 digits , simple as that

ie:- port 9999 is actually port 09999
