Hi, I have lost the network connection. I have reflashed the box and ran network wizard. I get the message " Your internet connection is not working! Please choose what you want to do next." I know the cable to to the router is ok so is it a fault with the box as in the past it has auto connected at least 50 times or could it be a setting in the router? Any help please?

not sure why you think the box is faulty
the drivers for the network are in the operating system (usually)
you have not said which OS you are using but mine is flashed with BH 2.06 and my network is working just fine
the connection to your router can easily be checked by using a laptop or pc or some other device with a lan connection
you can also check your router admin panel to see if the box has a working lan ip connection, and you can try a ping from your pc or laptop, pinging the box ip address to ensure its working and replies

Hi echelon, i am using VTi v 6.0.2 and the vu is not showing as an attached device in the router or in DCC

in that case plug the lan cable into a laptop and check that the laptop gets a lan connection and can be seen in the router admin panel
if it works, and the box doesnt, then the image has to be suspect
if you tried an image you know that the networking works ok on , like a BH or some other image, then you know the image you tried has a problem
if it failed no matter which image you tried, then you may have a fault on the box, but its rare for a lan connection to actually be faulty on any ethernet socketed device, whereas its more likely to be the OS or the lan drivers at fault
I have known bad connections on lan cables, especially if the locking tab is broken on the lan cable

Set your network in the Vu+ to use DHCP.
That normally sorts out problems like yours.

I had the lan cable in a 6000HD and there was no problem. The VTi image had been working fine but when the problem occurred I reflashed the box to rule this out. I will try BH tomorrow and report back. Thanks for your help

You might just be unlucky and your network hardware within your box has failed.
This happened to me on my old Eagle box. The Eagle worked perfectly for four years - it was connected to the internet 24 hours per day and I never had any dropout.
Then suddenly the internet in the Eagle just stopped working. Everything else was working in the box, just that one feature.

Hi, I am able to get a network connection if i set to use a manual dns-nameserver but not through DHCP. Although this works it is very very slow. Normally after reflashing the Network wizard autoconnects which with the DHCP problem makes me wonder if it is a setting in the router ?

check the lan connection with a different box like your spiderbox or with a laptop again, to see if they get a DHCP allocated ip address, if they do check if they have internet access too
sometimes you will need to set the DNS to public servers like opendns or google dns, especially if you are using vm
