Correct me if I'm wrong (ok, I usually AM lol!!) but haven't two of these been scanned in on Freeview this past two weeks too?

Yes ch 73 for CBBC HD and 105 for BBC3 HD, but it only says `Coming soon...` on them. The above four tho are live.

Fair comment mate - just a bit odd one version preceding another, rather than simultaneous release!

Agreed , would be interesting to know why they do not launch simultaneously, but at least there is some movement on Freeview too. Apart from the above two channels there is also Al Jazeera Hd (currently broadcasting promo on 108), and BBC News Hd, CBeebies Hd and Bbc4 Hd are set to start broadcasting early 2014. +several non-HD starting /started like 5Later (another spin-off channel from Ch5)on ch 55 (showing some promos after 2am every night, and coming soon notice for the rest of the day.) and couple of other chnls that have launched in the last couple of months. ( travel channel, true ent, film4+1). But what I am really waiting for, is for Channel5 to finally realize we are well and truly in the 21st century and it`s time to start broadcasting in HD too (on freeview )

Great to see the Beeb finally have all on HD only problem is may not be receivable on 2 month long holidays in Europe.Signal was very weak in North Spain this year. I don't suppose the iplayer will work in Europe then as the international version seems to have been shelved.

There is more space on Sat than Terrestrial.

It is possible the Freeview version is only showing in the EPG and digitaltext but doesn't yet have a video VID allocated. One of the HD channels was reserved for Ch5 but they are dragging their heels.

Freeview seems to be expanding now that "pay" TopupTV is defunct.

(...)On Freeview, BBC Three HD and CBBC HD will be available to everyone who currently has access to Freeview HD. Due to lack of further space on its own multiplexes, the BBC will launch BBC Four HD, CBeebies HD and BBC News on the new "COM7" commercial multiplex operated by Arqiva, which will be rolled out from the 26th November, with 70% of households covered by the multiplex by the end of June 2014. The exact launch dates of BBC Four HD and CBeebies HD have not yet been officially announced.(...)

So it may be even sooner (than dec10) for some but much later for others, as it will be a staged roll out by the looks of it. The Freesats versions of the BBC HD channels ( launching properly some time next month (no official date yet), may be the only option for those outside the new multiplex coverage.

Beeb is atm on astra 1N uk spotbeam ( also whilst you were on holiday ) they are talking about transferring all channels to the astra 2E uk spotbeam when this comes on line ( personally hope not soon for us in the fringes ) if the astra 2F uk spotbeam is any thing to go by then very restricted overspill viewing from outside the target area ( read uk ).

With the right browers and tools ( free uk isp ) you can open iplayer and other uk streams from abroad even though geoblocked,,,,,, streaming from pc to tv with hdmi cable ,,,,, thats my backup plan for 2E going live.
