Have a look here :-
https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?104228-New-guide-for-updating-Tomtom-units

Use notepad to edit the me ta file that is with the activation tool.
Or could try using BBS Tools (posted in this section) & update me ta online.
Or another activation tool you can use by running it on your tomtom by using windows explorer

http://www.filefactory.com/file/5s08qer10ev7/EasyActivator6.15.exe
This will also need the me ta file updating.

If you have still got the TomTom Start 25, then you still will not be able to update using a copied map.

Ok thanks Russell mate - so exactly 'which' devices can actually USE the posted files in practice please, can 'any'?
I suppose that bearing in mind I've actually GOT latest map version 9.20 on my Start 25 now, then the only option extra would be to load it on to my Samsung Galaxy S3 - but again I assume THAT cannot be done with these files either?
I'm not having a go mate, because your input is most appreciated, but I still struggle to see exactly 'who' can actually benefit from them - especially when everyone repeatedly goes into 'mystique-mode' when some of us are ordinary plain everyday people without all the technical expertise to do more than fairly basic commands etc!!
(Thats a 'go' at ME by the way!! lol!!)
Cheers Russell, thanks again for listening.:respect-055:

Most devices that have got navcore version 7, 8 or 9 - which is most of the older Tomtoms - One, One XL, Go *00, *10, *20, *30, *40, *50 )(& probably a few others I've missed) can use the copied maps that have got the me ta file info for them.

If you want to use Tomtom on your galaxy S3 you need a different version, here's a copy with the UK & RoI v915 map - this does work as it's the one I've got on my Galaxy S4 - no activation needed, just copy the .apk file & the tomtom folder to your galaxy & then run the .apk file :-

EDIT

managed to find an icon buried with all the others in the ALL APPS so dragged it as a shortcut to a desktop where I had expected the installer to place it

message from russell too

the icon for this is named UK and Ireland
(I was also looking for something named Tomtom).
Good luck,
Russ

Only problem is, that now its installed on Samsung Galaxy S3, every time I try to log into TomTom EVERY time it tells me its 'unable to connect, please try later' -but it doesnt!
SkyGo is opening fine, plus Facebook etc etc, so it cant be the phone surely?
Have YOU got it going Russell - or have you tried it lately please mate?

I've got this copy working properly on my S4 - have you got the GPS turned on - maybe that is what is unable to connect ? I have not had this for very long so don't know how to solve any problems yet.

the android forum can be used to discuss this and I stickied the thread in there too

it sounds like the GPS is not turned on or not present, seeing as it does not require the internet to run a satnav

this thread is now closed unless russell decides to update any further information in it

reason ? - its a stickied file thread, not a discussion thread

a new thread should be opened in the android forum or gps forums which is what should have happened when problems occurred

EDIT

THE TOM TOM FOR ANDROID WORKS ON ALL THE PHONES AND TABLETS I TRIED IT ON (using the sdcard on the phones)

namely

Samsung Galaxy S3 (running JB)

Samsung Galaxy S3 mini (running JB)

HTC Desire C (running ICS) (two phones tested)

Nexus 7 tablet 32 gb , internal ram as no sdcards can be fitted
