Newbie to the "real" world of SAT TV, eager to read and learn

Hi everyone absolutly brand spanking new to the Sat TV world, although I come from and electronics, radio and computing background, I'm finding it difficult to navigate some of the language and understand the basics. I would really be grateful for anyone who can point me in the direction of recommended reading for newbies eager to learn.
