What happened to the freesat channels on 27.5W?
They seem to be FTA, but without neither video or audio.

Yes, they used to be, and then displayed the "scrambled channel" message.
Now however, they are FTA on my STB, but with a blank screen

They were never FTA its just your box obviously is not able to recognise the Encryption or Video PMT
They all work fine in my TM5402 M2 HD but did to be manually added since PMT changed recently .
im not sure what box you have ?
but seems to me Almost any TECHNOMATE HD Box seems to be ok with BBC/ITV channels on 27.5w
not sure what other boxes clear these channels with biss keys however but ive never seen them running FTA yet however .
