What is a IKS Key?

Hi I bought my HD6000 6 months ago and I've just got round to set it up. I've a problem understanding the Iks bit as my old HD9000 didn't have it. In IKS the key is all zeros and the date showing as --/06/2014. Now should have been this key already be imbedded in the stb or do I add it manually and where would get it from. Please for give me it this has been covered before but having troweled through lot of threads i'm still at a loss.

If it's a new 6000 then you don't need a key for a year

IKS key is embedded i patch (use latest) all covered here.. :)
