Hi all, I have been reading these channel list threads. I always thought I had to scan all the satellites, and then load the list. But from reading, it seems that the list will find the satellites on its own without the need to scan. I do get a lot of superfluous channels when scanning. Am I right in thinking this?
Cheers,
Tim.

I know people like analogies on here (and there are some good ones) so here goes:

If you were into saving Panini Premiership club stickers but only liked one club, say Chelsea, a scan could be likened to having the full book of stickers with loads of ones you never want (and including all those swaps you amass just like satellite channels that can be found on several satellites). But if you just rip out your favourite club and have those stickers well that's like a channel list, well I know what I mean.

A channel list is someones attempt to reduce down the multitude of channels. It might not be to your own taste i.e. you might like sport, films etc but on the whole they are pretty good.

If you want your own bespoke list I suggest you use the excellent channel editor.

If motorised, with correct long/lat set and Sats required ticked, then yes.

You always will do, especially on 28 east where there are so many regional channels, ie BCC London - BBC Granada - BBC South West, like wise with the ITV Channels, you could delete all of those except you particular Region, that would then get rid of a few.

Thank you for your reply's. I think the channel list is fine for me. So I tick the boxes next to the satellites on the SB. Then load say compasses list to a USB put it in the box - software update - and that's it?

Should I delete my scanned Satellite channels first, and can I add to the list manually afterwards?

Yes it is a motorized system.

Cheers,

Tim.

Adding a new channel list will automatically overwrite your current channel list, you might want to back up your current one, in case you want to switch back.

Hi Mickha, Ive only just set the box up and scanned three satellites, I haven't got a channel list unless the scans count as a list, if so will a new channel list overwrite them?

Cheers,
Tim.

Yes, adding any new channel list will overwrite the one you currently have, even if it is only 1 satellite and 1 channel, that counts as a channel list, at least by your receiver.
