To use any copied Tomtom map, make sure you have a suitable version of the navcore and the correct map version to work with that navcore. The Navcore (ttsystem file) must be patched and then the map must be activated. There are guides and activation tools posted in here to do this for you.

If you still have problems, when asking for any help providing the following information along with any details of what you have tried to do will help to get you going :-

What model of Tomtom ?
What version of Navcore ?
What map & version number ?
Has navcore been patched ?
Has map been activated ?
What activation tools have you tried ?
Have you got the latest me ta file, or have you edited your me ta file (use notepad) with the correct me ta for the map you want to activate ?

any new guides will be in the sticky threads , like this one

a very old guide with useful info can still be found here

How can I install or remove third party POIs?

Every TomTom navigation device comes with thousands of POIs (Points of Interest) pre-installed and you can easily install more.

Note: This feature is not available on the following devices: GO 400, GO 500, GO 600, GO 5000, GO 6000.

If you don't know which device you have, see Which TomTom device do I have?

A TomTom POI set consists of a file with the extension .ov2. You can also add an optional .bmp bitmap file that contains icon images for your POI set.

How you install or remove POIs depends on the program you use to update your device. Find the correct instructions by selecting one of the options below.

nb:- these are copied into your MAPS folder

yes you need a map..that will be in a folder...find map and copy that over and then put cameras inside that map folder

VOICES

They go into the folder named ' voices ' - if you use Tomtom Home you can get all the latest free voices from Tomtom.

so POI`s and safety cameras go in your actual maps folder

voices go into your voices folder on the root directory of the device

postal files go into your zip folder on the root directory of the device
