p.s - Don't be shy to post bugs/faults with the editor, feedback is essential for making the 6000 Editor better and easier for everyone to use :D

I'd like to say a big thank you for the software but a bigger thanks for the manual included with it.
A very nice piece of work clear and precise will make life a lot easier.

It's the editor thats fanstastic piece of work, I did most of the manual write up, the Internet download screen shot was rushed a bit, just quickly marked it up in red, but hopefully people will get the idea.
We got to update this manual shorty with the new Advanced Down, which is going to take a long time because it is so flexible and configurable.
What we really need is more information about the channel list file format, we are are wasting 100's of hours trying to reverse engineering it, when we could be making the editor even better, so if anyone can help with satellite setting and general settings parameters stored in the channel list file it would really help superstarmac, and will benefit all the users of the editor.
This would allow the editor after doing the an Internet Download, and creating the SSU, to corectly default the settings data, so the users don't have to do this by hand, because with the new Advanced Down, an user could have to manual change up to 99 sat setups, when they contain the new provider channels data in the sat list.
At the moment we got to default this part of the channel list, with a factory reset data as this is the only thing we can get it to work with :)
So please everyone support Superstarmac as much as possible.

The only 'annoying' issue I have found if that if you download a load of channels via the web option, edit them and save them when you come to load the list again to edit it you lose the category field.
The way around it is to sort and split up into favourites.

The Editor is clearly a remarkable piece of work. (Spider 6000 Editor v2.0.3). Unfortunately I have never been able to save the file!! Totally baffled. Tried on Win 7 and XP. I press SAVE and have tried saving as 'spider ssu' and as 'all files'. Have tried saving to 3 different USB sticks and Desktop. The file is never where it should be or in fact seemingly anywhere! I then do a search and 'open file location'. This finds a 'shortcut' in Windows Recent. It then tells me that 'shortcut it refers to has been moved or changed'! (I have unticked 'hide file extensions' in Folder Options). Anyone any thoughts please?

The info in post#5 in the following thread maybe of some help to you:

Thanks Aldo. Yes followed that tip closely and the Editor works great. So I guess it is a computer issue, at the SAVE stage, at my end but why it occurs on 2 unconnected machines leaves me baffled! Bit miffed as I would use the Spider a lot more if I could run my own stripped down list!
If you open the channel editor again and look for User Database-date-ssu. that will be the channel list that you have created, date being the date that you made the list, and when you have found it, open it with the channel editor.

Hi Aldo. Thanks. Tried that. Nothing there!! Not in .ssu or 'all files'!! Staggered!
Hi Aldo. Thanks. Tried that. Nothing there!! Not in .ssu or 'all files'!! Staggered!
Could it be that you have an anti virus program that may be blocking it.
Do you have the Net Frame work file installed, as mentioned in this thread:

Hi Aldo. Thanks. Now that is a good suggestion. I hadn't considered that However I don't have any on the XP machine as is normally offline....except to download the Editor! I'll go round to neighbour and try on PC and laptop!

@captainglassback. Did you get sorted?
I've got the exact same problem. I save my work. Then when I try to open it again it's not there. If I hit the "File name" drop down box it's there, but try to open it and I get a message saying "File not found. Check the file name and try again" I've tried all the above suggestions, don't know what to else to do.

Hi Satcat. Thought that it was 'just me'. Am trying on neighbour's @ 3.30 today! (Not feeling too confident given that I have tried it on 2 separate unconnected machines!). Failing all of that I do know a boffin who will have a go next time I see him. Will definitely report back if I do get a solution. Baffled!

Update.... I deleted channel editor and downloaded it again. This time, instead of extracting it into a new folder, I extracted to my Libaries and now it works. Don't know why, but Hey......
Thinking about it further, I think my problem was, when I tried to save, I wasn't in the correct folder. The folder you save in should be the same folder as the editor was extracted to. The same goes for when opening.

Thanks Satcat. I've been down that route a few times. Interestingly when using the same folder to run and to save I do actually get a (non ssu) file called Settings which is only 7kb. Otherwise I get nothing. If I rename the Settings file to a .ssu I get the message from the Editor that the file is too small. Looking at the way the data on the right fades momentarily as saving suggests that the prog is working fine but my PCs are not playing fair!!

Too baffling for words!! Went round neighbours and had exactly same outcome! (Win7). Will have to get the Boffin on it!!
Good Luck M8, I hope that your perseverance pays off in the end.

Put the editor in desktop not in program files or anywhere else.
Also when you save the list ,choose to be saved in desktop.

Thanks Blackdevil. That is precisely what I did on the 'neighbour's' laptop and got nowhere. However I have just followed your tip on my PC and it worked!!! Amazed as have probably tried 60 times! Thanks. Very happy!!
I am pleased to see that you have finally solved the problem with your channel editor. :respect-067::respect-055:

Many thanks Aldo. The 6000 stb will get some proper use now once I have slimmed the list right down. Thinking on just maybe my 'problem' related to not having the 'Classless.hasher dll' file in the same folder. Although when I was trying to run it off a usb stick I did. Anyway, delighted!
