Fast forward/rewind

Hi everyone,
When I playback my recordings: Has anyone found a quicker or more accurate way to fast forward/rewind other than the clunking x2 x4 x8 etc?

Thing is you have to check how much time has already elapsed, and then add a few minutes, not the best way to skip a few adds.
