EPG not updating on all channels.

Hi,

My new Duo box with Vix image arrived last week and the EPG has been fine from day one. I've been away for the last couple of days, having turned the TV on tonight the EPG is only updating on about 50% of the channels. Some channels have no EPG information, some have the the next couple of hours and some are updating correctly.

Any suggestions or guidance ?

Strange........if you open the EPG and select a channel with no data then go back to the EPG the data for that channel then updates fully !!

check your epg plugin to check if and when it updates and what type of update it does (online or from a 28e channel)

also check if its set to manually update or is set for automatic

I did put some epg info for vix as well as BH in the DUMMIES sticky thread (albeit a year ago)

I use manual downloading on opentv myself at the moment , using double green as a fast plugin option

Should I be looking in menu-plugins-EPG plugins ??

you can try there, or in the menus, look for any epg naming , like crossepg or whatever

try Press Menu > Setup > System > EPG > Settings.

EPG has to be setup by yourself on the Box via the CrossEPG menu and is better stored on an external USB drive

I followed your instructions and the EPG has now fully updated.....thanks.


When I went into the CrossEPG option - XMLTV providers - Rytec uk bbci and Rytec uk were both ticked I re-downloaded both of these.
I then went into open tv providers and re-downloaded sky uk open tv 28.2.

Have you got any idea why it's not updating automatically ? Under CrossEPG setup I have the following info -

Enable cvs import - no
Scheduled download - once a day
Scheduled download at - 0700
Show as plugin - yes
Show as extension - yes

Ps just realised the EPG data is being stored on the hdd NOT the USB stick, could this be causing the issue?

I cannot answer vix questions because as I have mentioned many times I do not use vix or the new crossepg with its auto update, I use manual epg updating with a double tap green function , so ask vix if you want vix help

the epg can be stored on the hdd but is a bad idea as it will keep on waking the hdd up causing freezing, so the usb stick should be the target for epg storage, not the hdd (hence why I told you to buy and use a usb stick in the back and store the picon folder and epg data onto it)

the hdd storage will not alter what crossepg is doing or not doing, you need to read up and the auto update methods of the new crossepg , if you can find the info, mine is 12 months old and relates to manual updating only

in fact, I suggest you make it your mission to become fully conversant with the latest crossepg in vix and add a tutorial for everyone to follow to that dummies guide sticky thread, which is what I did a year ago seeing as we had nothing back then ;)

Would love to write a 'guide' on the EPG, but as it stands it's not working so don't think it would be of much benefit
