Hi all,
I have a "standard" sat motor (diseqc H-H) with a 80cm dish.
I would like to know what is the max the motor will hold, can I put a 1,1m on it or stick to the "legal" 1m (don't want to bother with planning permission)?
Will the extra 10cm make a difference?
With the wind we had lately my motor/dish haven't suffer at all...hope, I am not taking bigger risk with a larger dish...
I cannot get some transponder on thor (digi/upc) with my 80cm in west midland for my mrs (like 11823 H30000/ 12034 V30000); also, is there any chance I could get 26E with a 1.1m or not (in that case I would stick to 1m anyway) for the sport channels?
many thanks

A Triax TD110 would probably suit your needs and i know some have say something like a 1.2m on a Diseqc motor when installed in sheltered/Ground locations. But as you say with the recent winds and they are not one offs with climate change expect something similar in the near future, It all boils down with what you comfortable with but the TD110 should get you BADR4 on 26° east and your missing Transponders on 0.8° west coupled with a decent LNB of course.

I have a TD110 on a motek motor and it shakes like a jelly in the wind.
I even lose 28e at times with the shaking.
TD110 is a flimsy dish to say the least.
ok, might look for another make then...any idea?

The Gibertini 100cm has a better gain figure than most 110cm dishes & the Gibertini 100cm is very strong & has less wind movement than most other dishes of the same size.

In my opinion this dish (I have the same) is quite a sturdy dish, but the problem is with the way it connects to the pole or motor stub.
That bracket that grabs the back of the dish always has me worried that it won't hold in windy weather, but it always does.
I have had my Triax up around 12 or more years now and it still looks like new.
It's a heavy dish though and because of that not easy to setup when first installing.

similar reply from me too, no problem with my actual dish although I have added extra locknuts etc to it and to the motor
but the Gilbertini ones have an excellent reputation

I have installed all 3 TD110,Gibby 1m and the Orbital 1m and the TD110 if set correctly and i mean this is marginal beats the other 2 by a fraction, The only thing letting the TD110 down and the rest of the TD range is that silly clasp/slide mechanism its a bitch to adjust finely after its been weathered and it just wont stay still in the wind, the Gib 1m/Orbital have a far sturdier back plate mechanism.
For those interested the Gain figures on the 11.7ghz band Gibby 1m = 39.9db5 Triax TD110 = 40.2db as i said its marginal
when the wind hammers my triax if buckles and flexes all over, to the point of looking like its going to fall apart. Its a very flimsey dish imo. The elevation adjustment mount is also poor, you get it set up then when you tighten up the bolts it pulls the dish up. Performs OK just a ball ache to set up compared to other dishes ive had

Is your Triax dish made out of steel?
Mine is and does not buckle in the wind.

Alloy 1mtr Orbital is solid and sturdy with excellent results, add a cryptic V motor to it and then you have the Roll Royce of setups...:respect-056:

as an after thought i also have a 1.25m dish with the same motor which was also very stable

I think its made from rubber :) Its exposed from all sides so takes a battering a few times ayear

My Triax 1.1 is now 13 years old, steel old LNBF arm screwed to it, changed all screws nuts bolts for 316 stainless steel, still up without a blemish, had gales here but didn't budge.
The i'm still using a ( new) actuator arm 24" on my mount, not such piffy motors.
Last actuator went 13 years ( echostar) if this one lasts as long i'm quite happy, regular maintenance is done on the setup though.
Superjack is the 24" actuator i'm using now.
Also replaced LNBF last summer for the latest 0.1 dB Nf one.
Have to agree with the comments about the TD-110 being very flimsy - I had one from 2009 till 2011 and it looked like it'll just fly off in even moderately strong winds. Currently have an Orbital 1m and it's much more solid but, alas, it looks like it'll be time for realignmnt or even a new motor soon as the recent winds seem to have affected signal slightly and backlash is now noticable - currently have a DarkMotor - one of the ones with the LEDs on top.
