Morning people.... i am new here so i hope i posted in the correct section. As buying satellites goes, i am as green as they come. I have read around and would like to know is the Vu Duo + 2, worth buying. Im not bothered about prices but would like to buy something decent from the start. Excuse my ignorance and i thank you in advance for your help.

seems to be the Rolls Royce of receivers at the moment.
Wish I could afford one !. My Solo2 is good enough for me.

whichever official VU you buy you wont regret it

the DUO 2 is the flagship model so considered top of the tree , with the solo 2 and duo 2nd and third for the multiple tuner boxes

all of the VU range is well catered for and I dont see that changing in the future so its not as if the support will dry up like it has with other boxes

good luck with whichever you buy, also note you will get good service from goldwafers and not a clone either, but the real thing

Best box on the market in my opinion! Even tho I don't use all the features, I've been using it for stream the box to my iphone this weekend(like slygo) with the black box app. I used to swear by dream boxes but now VU are the front runner. You won't regret buying your only regret would be not having a slower box before to notice the massive speed difference! I got mine from goldwafers too

Thanks for your quick reply people. It seems like im gonna choose wisely. I live in Malta and we dont have the likes of Goldwafers etc.... how can i tell if im getting an original or is there only an original version of this particular model?
Thanks again for your help.

Ask if Lee will ship to Malta.

As stated above you could contact Lee @ Goldwafers on the number listed below:

ok i got a reply and they said they can send it for 40 quid ,,,, so thats all good. He went on to say "
We can also pre-load the receiver with the firmware of your choice before dispatch. Select the image installation service for this option."
The options are
Black hole
VIX
VTI
OPENPLI 4

Which do i go for coz i really do not know the difference. Thanks alot

they are all good, read the threads on this board to make a rough decision.
if he loads it with Blackhole you can always change it to try others.

I have just ordered a Vu+ Uno (I can hear echelons sigh of 'oh god no!!!')

Which of the firmware (or is it a skin) most closely resembles the Sky EPG?

Do I also take it that Blackhole needs stuff like CCCam support adding. Does VIX?

And yes Mikeymike this is a good site to get you up and running. I've only had a Spiderbox since Christmas and I've already moved on

Well I've taken the plunge, I'm ordering the Vu + DUO tomorrow with built in 500 gig Hard Drive, My Spiderbox SD is playing up, keeps rebooting and I get freezing on quite a few channels.
Guess I need to do some reading on setting it up, Hope it's not to tricky, My old Dreambox was quite simple after a few pointers in the right direction and lots of useful posts. I'll give it a go but if I get stuck I'll be asking for help.
Thanks in advance

Hi there VU Gurus! I have Icecrypt s4000. I considering buying VU+ duo 2. I am using a TV na kart card which is paired with a cam module. Will it work with VU? Which enigma image would you guys recommend? Would really appreciate your advice.

I would assume that if that combo works on the ice4000 it will work on a vu too

as for which image, that is down to personal preference

they are all recommended, but some prefer one than another

usually its either openvix , openpli or blackhole , the choice is yours to make
