6000 hd mystery

I've bought a new Spider 6000HD to replace my old 9000hd (kept rebooting, etc), I have a motorised system and all I have done is unpluged the old box and connect the new 6000, I have installed the new patch and Compass channel list, everything is ok apart from the signal, which has dropped quite a lot, I used to get 95% approx. on 19e and 13e and now I get just over 60% and on hispasat, turkishsat, don't get enough signal to get a picture, I have put the same longitude and latitude as I had in my old box and I haven't touched the motor or the dish, can anyone help me.

Not that its any help but I found my signal and quality dropped by 20 % when I changed from a 9000 to a 6000 aswell !

I don't expect to get exactly the same readings, but if the motor and dish haven,t been altered I expect to get a signal strong enough to be able to get a picture, which now I'm not getting and only 2 days ago I was, when I had the 9000 connected

put the 9000 on the motor and get one of the sats up with good signals and place it on a fta channel that is on both boxes

leave the 9000 powered on , loop out to the 6000 and put that on the EXACT same fta channel and check the signal and quality as well

both should give a good signal and quality (the 9000 is the positioner in the above test, the 6000 is acting as a slave only)

if they are both working ok at this test point , then the 6000 is not set correctly in usals (assuming the 9000 is also using usals)

you can repeat the above on any fta channel on any sat, as long as its the exact same channel and sat , both boxes will display it at the same time , but only the 9000 is doing the positioning

however, if you then place the 9000 on standby the 6000 will become the positioner and you can check if it changes, putting the 9000 back on using the remote power button reasserts its authority as positioned as its the master control box in this configuration (the nearest to the motor)

You can also try adding and subtracting and subtracting say 0.2 to the Longitude setting to see if that will peak the signal and quality readings.

thanks jimihendrix, I couldn't answer your pm (lack of post), but I can tell you that I'm in south east London and the latitude I use is 51.3 north and 000.1 east longitude and I will try tonight changing the longitude by a degree at a time to see if the signal improves. thanks

I have a 98/96 s/q on my 9000hd reduced to 78/72 on the 6000 i thought it was maybe tuner quality.

One degree will be too much try 0.1 or 0.2 degree steps.

I have solved the problem, it was the lnb settings that needed changing. Now I can get signal on all the satellites, but still the strength on all the satellites is a lot lower than on the 9000.

Dont worry about it as manic01 said different manufactures software will never agree as there is no set standard for calibration that I know of. Just sit back and enjoy your receiver.
Just for comparison on 28.2e tp 10714 H sr22000 I get S=83% Q=73% using a 1mtr dish in Bridlington, what do you get on this transponder?

Using a 90 cm dish in South London I get on the same transponder S= 80% and Q= 72%

Pretty close to my readings, no problem there you will have good solid reception.
