Jules

Hi Guys, I have installed the latest BH image. At first everything worked but after a while I still have sound but frozen picture.
Then I have to reset the box to get it going again.
Has anyone else had this problem please?
Thanks.

Jules.

Jules

I'm on FTA now and will see what happens.
Thanks M8
Jules

This is odd. What do you think?

try removing the cam and card and retest on fta.
does it not work in the card slot using cccamd
Jules
15-03-2014, 11:56 AM
Thanks Guys,
I will try removing cam and card and see what happens.
I need the cam to watch TV2 Premium, but I can test till I need to watch it.
Not sure what the answer is if it works without CI used?

Jules.

there is a update for the BH 2.09 image to 209.1
that you can do the update with the remote
menu>set up>ok>software management>ok>software update>ok
and update the image with new drivers and a blind scan etc:
this could be worth a try to be sure there is'nt a glitch in the image
Jules
15-03-2014, 03:00 PM
Thanks Clipper, I already did upgraded when I installed it.
It's just frozen again without the cam in slot.

Jules.

i dont know if this will help but it's worth a try
i and others have had similar problems to your's
and if you've test other images before
flashing the latest bh image i was told to flash
a earlier bh image version first and then flash
the latest version after it and it cleared all my
problems, take a look at this thread about the bh image

a quick update. I installed open PLI V4 and all OK for a few hours, switched to ITV HD, frozen again.

so i think you ruled out the image the cam and card , when if freezes how long does it stay that way , long enough for you see see if you are loosing signal.
maybe worth a quick look at the cable from lnb just incase.

i would give the box a good clear out first
and flash the vu official operating image on
it as it came when it first left the factory
from here:--
http://code.vuplus.com/
look in the boxes on the left of the panel
for Images 2.1 choose the correct one for your model
and then re flash a image of your choice and see if this
clears the problem your having
Jules

Thanks fellas, I notice now when it freezes after about 2 mins it works again without resetting.
Thanks for the idea of reflashing with VU+ image and start again. I think thats my next step.
I'll keep you informed.

it wont do any harm but i would just flash
one of the new images, they have all the latest
drivers and updates added, as i said earlier to be sure
i would flash the official software first that way you
know the box has a clean start and it will clear any
glitches etc that you now have.

No go Guys,
I tried flashing VU+ original image then open ATV image. An hour later crashed again.
I have now removed the CI cam again as a last resort to see if it crashes again over the next few hours.
I will keep you informed.
Thanks Guys.

are you adding anything like the ts panel or ts media
or any pluggins etc that could be causing these problems,
i have had a duo a uno and now a solo2 and have never had
a problem it has to be something at your end and until we find it
the box is not going to work as it should
cosworth4x4

no usb or anything connected up , and box still on a fta channel .
disable any softcams you got running.
Jules

Yes I am adding tspanel and of course my cccam. Do you think I should add nothing and just watch FTA to see if it crashes?

try disabling cccam and try.
Jules
18-03-2014, 08:00 PM
OK, do you think it could be a certain version of CCcam that causes it?
echelon
18-03-2014, 08:02 PM
you should be using the cccam versions dumnonia posted specifically for BH version 2 images
https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?161009-Vu-Plus-community-BH-oe2-emus-%282013%29
TSpanel has also been known to cause issues too
clipper
18-03-2014, 08:02 PM
you can remove the ts panel and see if it stops the problem
and you can load the extras manually to get the chns open etc
plus if you need to know how to do it without the ts panel just ask
and there is lots of help mate
Jules
18-03-2014, 08:22 PM
Thanks Guys, I will uninstall ts panel now and try.
Cheers.
just to let you know I am not having any issues with BH 2.091 on my Solo2
Do you have a HD in it?
Also is it a clean channel list?
which lnb input are you using?
Jules
18-03-2014, 10:07 PM
Thanks TR8, Can't remember LNB makes, I am using separate dishes though. Having said that I had no trouble until I flashed the box last week.
There is no HDD
I keep installing new channel lists.

Hi Guys,
Last night after looking on various boards, I found that some versions of CCcams can cause this and that 2.3.0 was the one that works.
I reflashed with latest BH again. I inserted my CI cam and all worked fine all night. This morning the box had switched itself on and guess what,
picture frozen again but still had sound. I really thought we had sorted it but not quite.
Cheers,
Jules.

can i ask with the blackhole image did you
load a cccam in tgz or ipk format? i ask this
because the BH images use tgz format also
i loaded more than one cccam and none have given
any problems, i dont use 2.30 cam version

there are reports on other websites saying there was a problem with older images on this box and cccam reason i told him to disable it .
made me think something has changed with the newer images hes loaded .
could be worth reloading a older image back , one you knew was working.
dont put anything back in then add one at a time .
Jules
20-03-2014, 10:42 AM
Thanks Guys, I was just thinking the same thing. The old image I was using was working fine. The only reason I upgraded was to get high bitrate support for my CI cam, which would not work without it. I suppose what I need to do is find the oldest firmare I can that has high bitrate support for CI? Any ideas on what versions please?
Cheers, Jules

With Bh image you have a autocam option, you only need your cam for your local card and then you use CCcam. With the cam manager you only ever have one running.
Other than that ditch CCam and use oscam.
Jules
20-03-2014, 11:35 AM
Thanks sonic. I've never used oscam, is it the same to set up as cccam?
Jules
20-03-2014, 05:15 PM
Just set up with BH 1.72 which I am told is supposed to stop crashes.
Thought I'd sorted it but after 1 hour it's just crashed again.
If I lived in a taller building I'd chuck it out of the window, but as it is it may bounce back in.

Jules.

I did install the cams this time I must admit. Do ytou think it would have made a difference with 1.72?

this is a very strange problem vu boxes
and there images usual never give any problems
have you tried other images like the vix or pli images
if you have are they the same causing problems?
the bh media tree 172 is at least three years old and i dont think
unless you update the drivers it will run smooth.
try open pli for your box scan your sat you are using and install no ccamds just use th ci
and se if that helps

Hi Guys, the more I think about it as someone on another forum said, it could be power supply. Maybe a slightly leaky capacitor?
Cheers,
Jules.

Have you tried the box for 24 hours without your cam ? or CCcam ?
Jules
20-03-2014, 10:29 PM
OK Guys, thanks for the input again. I actually installed the latest BH image again around 5:30pm and apart from 1 green screen and 1 freeze initally, it is still working.
As I mentioned earlier about possible power supply problems, I forgot to say over the last couple of days when I put it into standby (red LED) a couple of times, after a few
hours it had come on (green LED) but had crashed with frozen picture. This could be another thing pointing to power supply do you think?
Cheers,
Jules.
how olds is the box and have you tried other images with out installin camds ????????????????
Jules
20-03-2014, 10:43 PM
Box is about 4 years old and I have tried installing images without cams but I don't think I left it long enough crash.

try a fresh install no emus no plugins and only your ci mod and sat its for
try for 24 hrs and see

20-03-2014, 11:35 PM

Hi Guys, yes it crashed many times again. This afternoon I disabled the softcam and just left my CI cam in and it's been working perfectly. Still working now.
I am looking around forums and I think maybe there may be a way of increasing memory size with a pen drive. Maybe it's not got enough mem to cope with the later firmware and addons. If anyone could help me allocate the pen drive to expand the memory, I would be really grateful.
Regards,
Jules.
just remove the addon you don't need with the speed up option
blue button x2
Jules
22-03-2014, 10:54 PM
I don't really have any other addons installed except the ones that come with the image. Do you mean remove those?

This is a must with this box.

Jules
23-03-2014, 03:36 PM
Hi Guys,
All was still working fine. I installed 256m swap file, still working.
Then I reactivated cccam, crashed within 30 mins.
Seems like it's the softcam thats doing it?

Jules.
echelon

the usb pen drives should be used for picons , epg data from crossepg or similar epg plugins, and the swap file of course
you wont get much recording done on one , even if its a 32 gig stick, which is why most people use boxes with an internal hdd like the duo or solo 2 or duo 2 or ultimo
my duo has a self fitted internal hdd ( 1 terabyte I think its is ) and a 16 gb usb stick for picons + epg and swap file
I use BH images so use the BH v2 cccam as well , not the older ones for v1 images
Jules
23-03-2014, 07:22 PM
Thanks Echelon, but the main thing I want to get sorted is that it crashes only when I use softcam.
Do you think extending the swap file higher than 250m will solve it, or a different cam?
Regards,
Jules.

Something with the softcam config is the issue, logging maybe or just a bad config.
Post your config without personal details.

Hi Sonic, I just thought, you mention config. This is a not a server box so I only have the Clines in config, no other text.
Do you think this could be the problem?

it would seem as if you ignored my words in post #64 about the types of cccam emu to use ?
I was very specific in the cccam types I named , namely use BH V2 cccams as posted by members like dumnonia
I would also check that you have the cccam correctly set for the listening port , and dont use any softcam for the time being (you mentioned the softcam earlier)
Jules
24-03-2014, 12:03 AM
I have tried two of these cams with same result. Which version would you recommend?
I am trying oscam at the moment to see if that works.
You say about listening port, I've never had to set this before, should I have?
echelon
24-03-2014, 12:06 AM
I dont use bh 2.09 so I cannot actually recommend any of them , my point was that you should be using a v2 BH cam as posted by dumnonia
sonic1 did mention trying oscam so yes use oscam
as for the listening port, I cannot answer that as only you know your ports , so that part and maybe others need sorting out
in post #66 you were also asked to paste your config file minus any personal info, but you ignored that advice too
in post #65 you mentioned using a softcam, yet you should not be using a softcam at this stage as you are trying to find out where your problem is , so less is more
Jules
24-03-2014, 12:18 AM
OK thanks.
There is only the original info on the cam I'm using except my lines.

Hi Guys, Thanks to Echelon, Sonic, Cosworth and everyone else who helped me solve this problem.
With your advice I installed Oscam Oscam6088+CCcam230_E2_BH_TNT later yesterday and everything working fine, no crashes.
Big test was overnight, all working perfectly again today.
Thanks again Guys,
Hopefully this will help others.

Jules.
