Hi I know you might say I sound stupid but could you explain what home sharing is and if there is a guide for it?

I have searched in the forum but cant find an answer.

Is it like what apple use for there devices

Thanks

It just allows you to share your card to your other box in your home. If you had two spiders at home and only one sub card then you could use it in both boxes at the same time. You just select it from the list of cards. On the local machine (the one with the card) its in the line called MyCard, on the other (the one you wish to connect to the card) it will be on one of the other lines. Just select it to connect to that card also. In short it lets you have same channels on both machines with a card in only one of them.

Hi,

I am in the same position,

dsaved my channel data, done factory reset, uploaded new patch, done another factory reset, on receiver restarting, set up wired network, accessed network menu tried to connect to iks, nothing, message stays on connecting....

any ideas of how to do this correctly, im sure what i have done is procedurally correct, but if i have missed something, please advise.:07:

Many thanks.

It does not state that you have to do 2 factory resets in the details included with the latest patch:

Instructions :
First save your channel list
Go to Network settings & select wired option
Go to Network & turn CCcam, Newcamd to off
Load patch
Factory Settings
Load your channel list

Hi Aldo,

followed those instructions exactly as written, apart from the loading of the saved channel list, thought i would check the connection status first, the box connects to the net ok via youtube etc.... but in IKS status always stays connecting

Any other ideas what i could try,

Many thanks, Anthony.

Try and do a full power cycle. Turn off at the socket, and plug it back in, You can also try Reboot in the menu.

OK i tried the power off too, still the same.

One thing i just noticed, the new patch i have downloaded from here is 3.7mb in size, and when i backed up my data that file size was 8.2mb. That doesnt sound right to me

Also, after loading the patch, and a factory reset after the loading of the patch, when i go into network, and the area for additional sealions (not iks) my old sealion data is still there but shaded, not applied. Im thinking if i have completed a factory reset all mu old data should be erased.... am i dot dong a full factory reset, or is this normal?

Any other ideas.....

thanks

Could someone please clarify - do we HAVE to re-patch with the new patch dated 09/04 to get IKS channels back ? Some of the above posts imply that they still do not clear even if this is done. Is anyone actually clearing IKS at the moment, or is it a case of sitting tight with either the old or new patch ?

If you don't load the new patch you will never know. Others have reported, on this forum, that the new patch is working.
I advise you load the new patch then report back if it is working, or not.

Thanks Mickha,

i have loaded the patch, not sure if i completed the process correctly although followed instructions, but having issues stuck in the connecting mode whilst trying to connect to iks

to have the channels back you must have to be able to connect to the iks server, something some of us are havinbg trouble doing.

I did join the vas*** form earlier to see if there was someting i havent done or something new i had to do, joined ok but have to donate £50 or something like that to get to VIP status to see anything worthwhile (eve if it is then actually wortwhile) but as my box is only new since xmas, im abit cautious to do that to be honest.

Try rebooting your router, and receiver, then check to see if it is connecting.

I must admit that I was chewing the carpet after loading the patch, until it finally connected about 90 minutes later.

The new patch is working but It was off last night then back on today. This may have caught a few people out If they had loaded new patch wile it was down. This is not a guaranteed media and If it goes down we Just have to wait for It to come back on or a new updated patch to be released. (thanks blackdevil)
If you have a freebie, it does not include access to there site and should wait till the freebie runs out before donations. YOU CAN DONATE HERE ANY TIME.

(this is posted as info and hope it does not brake the rules. )

I have tried several times now following the instructions above on how to load the latest patch,

My box in info says model hd6000 hw version 01.100 sw version 01.14 date nov 26 2013

So obviously my box isn't taking the patch correctly,, I am doing something silly, but can't see what it is, it isn't like I'm new to this, I have owned dream boxes and inboxes in the past so am well used to loading patches and updating cams etc.... I'm getting frustrated now as it's obviously something silly that's stopping me advancing.

I had a feeling my factory reset wasn't resetting as I still had data loaded in the sea lion menu,

I'll go thro it line by line again, fingers crossed,

Sorry if this is silly? But? Have you tried loading another ch list? I ask because you may have saved your old one as all data and this might be knocking the new patch back to the old one? Just a thought and that's all I got??

My System Settings Read as Follows:

Model: HD6000

HW Version: 01 00

SW Version: 01 14

Date: April 9 2014

So obviously you have not installed the latest Patch correctly.

I agree, he seems to have done a full data dump including his old patch, instead of a channel list backup dump

Thanks for checking that for me Aldo, i am obviously not doing something very basic.

I have downpoaded the patch from here, it was 3.6mb zipped, and 3.8mb unzipped, does this look ok to you, my old patch was 8mb in size

ive tried again several times, im assuming you have to unzip the file before loading it to the receiver?

Hi Echelon,

i have not uploaded any channel list as yet, so i only have only tried to install the new patch, then after the receiver reboots, do a factort reset, then when the receiver has restarted there are no channels loaded, i then go to info and the patch hasnt taken as the date is wrong, i cant get the new patch to load correctly, when i see the new date on info then i can proceed to load the channel list. I did do both a channel list back up, approx 580kb data, plus a full data back up, approx 8mb data, so i have backed up both in case.
so to be clear, i havent loaded any channel lists, i am stuck on getting the receiver to either factory reset properly, or load the new patch properly, then once these steps have been done correctly, then i can load my 580kb data channel list.

yes, its 3.6mb zipped and about 3.8mb unzipped, obviously you unpack it first before patching the box as it has an ssu suffix

the old nov 2013 patch is 3.6 mb zipped and the same 3.6 mb unzipped, not 8 mb

make sure you have done a channel list dump and not a full data dump when you backed up your channel list

ps:- all these 6000 patches range from about 3.2 mb to 3.8 mb , so definitely not 8 mb

In System Settings you have:

Software Update - which is First. Install the latest Patch.
Factory Settings - is Done after System Reboot.
System Info - Then Check to see if you have 9 Apr 2014.

Then reload your channel list in software update, and then all should be fine.

I`ll list what steps i am doing, so maybe you can see what eror i am making.

in menu - others - network, server set up, no lines active, and cccam and newcamd are OFF
IKS OFF
back to menu - system settings - factory settings - ok - enter 0000, ok factory defauly ok

receiver restarts

on restart, menu - system settings - software upgrade - s/w upgrade - highlight hd6000_04_09.ssu - are you sure you want to upgrade this file, ok status write to flash to 100% (approx 20 secs)

receiver reboots to a channel where i would have thought as no channels are yet loaded as i have only downloaded a patch (unless theres a channel list in the patch)

menu - system info - still shows old date,

so what have i done wrong chaps, scratching my head now, and i`m nearly bald as it is, cant afford t loose much more hair..........

any ideas .......

Hi aldo,

I have tried and done as you wrote,

first performed the patch upload, then immediately after the receiver restarts, peformed a factory reset, then checked date after the reboot, still the same nov 26 2013 date

The following is not necessary:

back to menu - system settings - factory settings - ok - enter 0000, ok factory defauly ok

receiver restarts

You only need to do a factory settings after you have loaded the patch and the receiver has rebooted, and you will have no channels loaded.

glyndwr
11-04-2014, 10:11 PM
i notice after a system factory reset, when the receiver reboots it goes straight to a menu screen, which is what i would expect, as i havent yet loaded and sats or channel lists,

but on loading the patch, the receiver restarts to a unscrambled channel that im assuming should not happen.... the patch is dfinately not loading correctly, although everything on screen says flash is being written to 100%

glyndwr

I have tried that too Aldo, thanks for all your help, i did try that as soon as you indicated it a few posts ago..... but still the same thing happens.

Have you loaded the latest patch on to a USB Stick and then placed the stick into the USB Port on the front of the receiver. ???

echelon
11-04-2014, 10:29 PM
also, try a different stick between say 1 gig and 16 gig and ensure its formatted to fat32

then unpack the downloaded file , and copy and paste to the stick (not drag and drop)

I think that he is trying to load the patch direct from where ever he has placed it, and so he is not actually loading the patch at all, and that is why he has not over written the Nov Patch yet.

Thank you echelon and Aldo for your kind persistance in solving this issue, as it now thankfully solved.

OK, the problem was, i was using a 250gb hdd as the usb source, although the receiver identifies the storage device, during the read write flash stage of the programming something must have been happening that maybe some data was missed during the transfer, although the upload showed 100%
When my son cam home i got MY 8gb stick off him that i had used to program the box initially during its first set up, and the box loaded first time. Yipeeeeeeeeeeee

As i had backed up my channel list onto the hdd i wasnt sure if that would load either, but thankfully, the channel list went in straight away, so, all back up and riunning and most importantly all "connected"

Not sure why the box didnt like the hdd though but did allow the transfer of the channel list, as Homer Simpson said, every time i learn something new, something old gets pushed out of my brain, got to fugure out what i have had pushed out now LOL.

Again, amny thanks for yiur kind persistance and help, it is very mucg appreciated.
