View Full Version : Password problem

I recently updated my 6000HD to the April patch. When I came to the Factory Reset I found that it will not accept the password '0000'. Although I don't recall ever changing it I tried the most likely alternatives to no avail. I reflashed the November patch and the problem is the same, although I assume that the password is hard coded into the patch but could be wrong. Maybe a reinstall of the original software?
Can anyone advise? I have searched here and elsewhere.
In the meantime I am actually enjoying going back to my 9000HD which I think I prefer anyway!

On the 9000HD the password is always 0000, and seems to reset itself after loading a new patch.
Have you tried loading the latest patch, for the 6000HD?

Thank you - yes I have tried both the last two patches.
Maybe this evening I will try the original software (the weather here today is too good to miss). It is clear from the manual that 0000 is correct and should be reset with an upgrade. I am an experienced user and this doesn't make sense to me!

I don't know if it's the same on a HD6000, but to reset a forgotten password to "0000" on a HD9000 you have to patch it using "S/W + all data Update" option.

M8,
Silly question but are you putting OOOO instead of 0000 capital letter's instead of number's?..[just a thought]..

You enter the code via the remote so there are only numeric options.

I haven't had an opportunity to progress this but I think that Satcat's idea sounds promising as my updates have retained data, including possibly the corrupted password. I will report back when I have tackled it again with the result. It is definitely 0000 in figures as noted above.
Thanks to all so far

Did you get sorted January-king?

This issue was resolved with the 9 May 2014 update. Despite flashing earlier updates the password resolutely refused to return to 0000 but for whatever reason it is now sorted.
This is posted in (unlikely?) event that someone searches for a solution to the same problem and to thank those that offered assistance.
