Can anyone advise on what length Actuator arm will I need to travel from 42E to 45W as I am looking to get one to move my 1.2m Andrews?
It's also in a pretty windy position, the dish is already kitted up to take an Actuator not a motor.

Thanks

before I went usals/triax1.1, I had an 18inch for my Channel Master 1.2, more than enough as the supplier thought 12inch would have done it.
I think at the time I was thinking of the future and a 1.8.

18" Actuator Gives me 57° east to 45° west and still has some travel left over so a 12" if set correctly will give you your desired ARC or an 18" as Dark Cloud explained to play it safe

I have a 1.25mtr and an 18" does the job nicely.

My old Actuator was 12" and I found it difficult without robbing Peter to pay Paul when using Sats on the extremes of it's range as it wouldn't reach much further than 30W and 36E (ish), so an 18" will be ideal.

Thanks all.

I have the 24" actuator for the Triax 1.1 meter dish.
With a longer actuator the actuator has less needed power to push the dish around, shorter actuators need to be put closer to the turning point of the mount and need more power to push the dish around.

Certainly in the outmost positions the actuator really has to pull/or push quite hard to get the dish moving, a longer actuator further away fom the turning point needs less power and will stand up against storms better.
my dis goes from 47 east to 45 west here in the Netherlands, dish at 12 feet above ground between the rows of housing and gets clobbered by wind in a storm, the old 24" EchoStar actuator replaced last year after 13 years of service.
New one is a bit beefier, and if that one survives that long with daily use hopping satellites i'll be quite happy.

Keeping it cleaned, greased and cleaned out the de watering holes religiously 2 x a year.
