You cant leave it much later to win, first QPR turn it round in the last minutes, Derby got it wrong tactically, in the last 10 minutes with an extra man it was important for them to reach extra time so they could wear QPR down in extra time.

They went for the winner in normal time and paid the price.

As for Real Madrid v Athletico two minutes is also a very long time at the end of the game, there last 10 minute surge at the end of the game turned the whole game round.

The fat lady wasn't ready to sing at either game.

Yeah agree very much TonyO but with the money Madrid spent to win this trophy a 4-1 win was certainly not a fair scoreline on Athletico at the end
i think Athletico deserved much better but left themselves very open to a very late attack from about 70 mins and they were utterly spent by the 90th min it was obvious ,
and you coulda bet your house on Bale and Ronaldo scoring at some point in extra time and thats exactly what happened .
i think last weeks final LA Liga game against Barca' took its toll on Athletico

Shame about Derby but they'll bounce back and are heading for bigger things in the near future todays loss wont stop them they will improve for that have no fear .
