Hi Guys, I have a wierd problem if you can help me please?
I have managed to add an external usb HDD to my solo.
It will play recordings and do timeshift, but when I try to record I just get the green reset screen every time.
I know there is a setting I must have missed somewhere.
Thanks.
Regards,
Jules.

I am using latest BH 2.10.
It was a struggle to mount. I don't think I have done it correctly.

Cheers,
Jules.

Hi Mickha,
I've got the details now.

Menu
Setup
System
Hard Drive:

Initialisation shows my HDD

for some options.
Also:
Menu
Black Hole App's
Hard Drive Settings:

Showing HDD not mounted.

and
Menu
Setup
System
Recorder Paths:

1 -4 all showing media/usb/movie.

This was the only way I could get the HDD to do anything ta all.

Jules.

use a decent image.

seriously,i am kind of joking and having a dig at BH,but personally i had nothing but trouble with my solo and mounting external drives when using BH.
I had very similar issues to yourself, and after hours of messing around and flashing fresh new images,i did once finally get it to work, under very specific instructions from cokeaddict on skype on the order of doing things, only for it to break again a few weeks later entirely of its own accord.

i dumped BH for Openpli some 2yrs ago now and ive never looked back.
its faster, far faster, but more importantly, everything works and you hardly ever have to reflash to obtain updates.
with BH its seems you have to reflash about every 6 weeks to keep up to date.

Ian.

Thanks for the reply Ian.
I think I may try that then.
Just one question, does the openpli image have the remote channel stream converter like the BH does?
I do use it.

Kind regards,
Jules.

Hi Ian, I finally installed OpenPli image on my Solo today.
After about an hour it froze again. i must admit I haven't set up swap file yet though.
I can't seem to find the swap file settings. Any ideas please?

Thanks.

Jules.

Remote Channel Stream Converter plugin

ftp to

/usr/lib/enigma2/python/plugins/extensions

restart enigma2

you will find it at

menu/setup/service searching

Hi Guys, I cannot believe it. My solo is still crashing.
If I can get the swap file working it may help. I have installed it but cannot find it.
Can anyone steer me in the right direction please?

Thanks.
Regards,
Jules.

First off, telnet in to the box using your favourite telnet programme.

Then, type the following command (after count, enter the size of file you want. In example below, it is a 128mb swap - 1024 x 128 = 131072):

dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/usb/swapfile bs=1024 count=131072

Then, set up a linux swap area

mkswap /media/usb/swapfile

Now, to activate the swap space immediately, type:

swapon /media/usb/swapfile

Now, activate the swap file to load when the vu duo loads, we need to edit the fstab file. To do this, type the following command to edit the fstab file:

vi /etc/fstab

Add the following line to the file:

/media/usb/swapfile swap swap defaults 0 0

Now, when the box restarts, the swap file should automatically be enabled...

To verify that it has worked correctly, type the following command in a telnet session:

free

This should give you some information similar to below:

total used free shared buffers
Mem: 140848 135964 4884 0 564
Swap: 131064 1848 129216
Total: 271912 137812 134100

This is not my work, found via google and posted by Master G

Its your skin.

What skin are you using ?
Has it been converted to BH ?

Also you have a problem with some volume control plugin, and this skin, perhaps automatic volume control ?

Use a decent image such as Openpli with a 512meg swap on your HDD and a PLi approved skin.

Ian.

Thanks Ian, I have just installed Openvix and it has been OK all afternoon with default skin.
How do I increase swap file to 512m please? I can only see up to 256m in settings.

Regards,
Jules.
