It's for 2012 n7 ( my one ), 2013 n7 and others.

A word of warning it does a full factory flash because it uses a new file system Called F2FS ( do a google ) and it does clear everything ,Titamimun backup got wiped and nandriod backups.

Found this on another site :-

What is F2FS?

F2FS (Flash-Friendly File System) is a flash file system created by Kim Jaegeuk at Samsung for the Linux operating system kernel. The motive for F2FS was to build a file system that from the start takes into account the characteristics of NAND flash memory-based storage devices (such as solid-state disks, eMMC, and SD cards), which are widely used in computer systems ranging from mobile devices to servers.

The idea was of ss2man44. F2FS helps Nexus 7 2012 where he needs: IO Speed and slowdown after long period (months?) of use. This Filesystem is used in others phone too like Moto X where he shows good performance.

yes , mine is the wifi one , no 3g

its not rooted or sideloaded or anything

if I try the app , it just says its awaiting google for the update

I think i will await the official OTA update for now , but thanks for the offer as I may take you up on it if I never get this OTA one (never used any of those tools , lol)

My nexus 5 phone got the update - nothing was wiped, and I re rooted the phone with Wugs Nexus Root Tookit straight after the update. Everything is still intact, all software apps and settings are the same.

I think your n5 was already on f2fs system that's why it didn't wipe. I watched my n7 2012 while it updated and it showed file system info that it changed.

The update included lots of minor and a few major changes and so far I have had a few Fc's. You Tube crashed out with a report being sent back also one or two old programs glitching. Otherwise it's a lot smoother.

Ok mates looks like the WIFI Nexus 7 is going to be sometime before you get OTA update.
If you feel up to it here is the best site to get it when available and find info about the firmware.

PS Just to say there are various bootloaders so you have to be careful if you want to flash it with the tool kit. Read up and ask there if in doubt.

My 2012 nexus 7 got the update yesterday - all apps and settings are still there, nothing changed apart from I lost root access - but that's normal and easy to restore.

So if you're worried about the OTA update making you loose stuff - don't as all your apps and things will be unaffected.

my non-rooted nexus 7 2012 32 gig wifi model has also updated today , same as above , no issues observed and the apps are still there after it checked them whilst doing its update

What Nexus 7 have you got ? my 3G is running the new file system thats why I lost the EX4 files as it repartitioned the ram. May be it's only the 3G one, who knows.
