Just got the delivery of the VU Duo Today, Took a bit longer than my last box but dealing with yourself's ( goldwafers) I trusted the wait would be worth it?
First of all thanks goldwafers and after working on the box for about 3Hrs after a bad day (sure you all been there?)
I can say?....THIS IS GOING TO BE FUN lol. They preloaded VIC (free) and I did what I normally do with new receiver.. Play about blind to see how it's workings go? Did a scan of sat's which, I don't now what happened to the scan? took 1hr scanned 7358 and cant find it now?
So yes am well pleased with it and look forward to the weekend to read up and sort out this big box (needed to hire a fork lift truck to get it in my house.. lol)

Question?...

Should I just reset box and start afresh or build on what on it? (after playing with it, seems to have lost the scan and most channels. oops lol)
(don't mind resetting because it will still help me to adjust to this box.)

Need a good read of the sticky s and that, so thanks for the help............PS am up NW UK (so far lol scotland) so any members got a fast set up configuration for up here would be welcome? :respect-039:

deffo a good idea to read the NUMPTYS guide for these linux boxes

as for channel lists , you can easily use one of catseyes E2 lists for now , loaded by VuCC or dreamboxedit

I assume you meant the image VIX and not VIC ?

quite a few images to choose from , including vix , blackhole , openpli etc , everybody you ask will tell you to use a different one

you could backup your current image to usb stick and then try a different image , use a premade catseye list and learn and do the basics for now

unlike your spiderbox , its not a simple system of do this , do that , thats it !

I doubt you will find 2 boxes that have identical images and plugins and channel lists on them , this is the problem when using a box that can be configured in dozens or hundreds of ways

Yes indeed it looks like I will miss out on a few new movies learning the set-up of this box? BUT The movies are always somewhere to be watched , so who cares lol. AND Yes lo I do need to learn this type of box (NUMPTYS guide , I probably re-right before I finish ha ha )
thank's.. start reading tomorrow ......:respect-054:

Hi all been looking at a few things and I have got the box running and tested a line so now have a small grasp on how things are going to work with this box? Still a lot of things I need to find out but am sure al get there.
The thing I don't understand Is why the flashing of new image does not seem to work?
I can use the ftp no problem but usb loading?
It's loaded with openvix apollo 1 and I've tried to load blackhole , can't remember the other one now.
Followed the folder set up with the 3 files, formatted the usb (2 of them I tried) into fat32, fat and even tried exfat, downloaded paragon to com and formatted the sticks with the vu then loaded ?
All to the same result... put power on display say's starting then reading for few sec then back to starting and it boots as normal?
Tried in all usb ports .
The other thing It seem's to do Is say there is a software update and you let it download and it tells you not to unplug till the upgrade has Finnish and the box will reboot? The box goes to reboot but just sit's there with one red light on and no display? Until you press power on or switch power off then on and it starts up as normal but doesn't seem to have updated in any way and update is still available?
So I ask what am I doing wrong/ missing ? Or/ and not understanding? :o15:

ps NUMPTYS RULE lol

use the front usb to load the image
remove any other usb connected
format you usb to fat 32
and add the image on power up hold one of the buttons on the box on my uno I think its channel up and restart with the switch on the back with the button pressed in

On the Duo all you do is power off with the switch at the back insert the usb stick in the front and then power on again with the switch at the back.

The Duo will detect the usb stick and and start programming the image.

The front display will tell you it's programming.

Once it's finished the front display will tell you to reboot.

Some usb sticks just won't be recognised therefore trying to flash images with these types of sticks is a waste of time.

Things to check

1. usb stick is formatted to fat32
2. you should have a folder on your usb stick named vuplus and a sub folder inside the vuplus folder named duo

Beware though that re-flashing the image will loose all your settings, channel lists and any extra plugins that were installed for you.
You'll be starting again from scratch.

@ hda5 thanks I know it should work like that but for some reason it just reads the usb then boots as normal I tried with a sand cruzer 4gb and kingston 8gb no luck?
on the bright side I think it just updated image vix 1 to vix 3 find out in a wile I said of to scan for severs so its off scanning the now lol.
Yes must be the usb drives i got need to get more and try them out
thanks for help (was thinking i was forgetting something so simple only i could miss)
@dcg gave it a go even if its a dial on the front but made no diff... thanks

edit.. it has updated to apollo 3 and i did a software update and this time it did reboot and kept the update so it might flash now? going to add the bits (cams and that) back on to it then save before I see if it can flash now..
thanks for help (ps I still saved old copy of apollo 1 so can go back to that i think lol)

final edit.. oh yes am getting there (stupid weather forecast add-ons are stupid!) still can't read from usb but I think it a bogus file ? (I am not adding something to it) OK I will drift off in to the sunset now ......:o13: :ack2:
