Hi all,

Been ages since i last posted.

i have a Amiko motor and receiver and Triax 1.1 m dish in Birmingham UK.

Set up the motorised unit using USALS on Thor 0.8 W. The problem is the vertical pole is not 100% plum so its off prob by half centimeter. I was initially able to pick up 0.8 w and good signal quality too. After a few tweaks on the motor and dish elevation i was able to pick up good signal quality for satellites from 42 east to 1 west.
However now i cant pick up anything past 9 east. I see that 7 east is 0% quality on all frequencies. This doesnt make sence that i can pick up 9 east but not 7 East.

I check that with USALS enabled and when the motor moves to position the E/W numbers under the motor does match actual E/W number.

So i decided to re-allign the dish and motor on 0.8 W and start again and cant pick up any signal on 0.8w. This is strange considering its a easy sat to pick up. What should i do? reset the receiver back to factory setting? delete the satellite and re-install them?

i have set the motor latitude to 52 degrees.

Thanks for any help

birmingham is about 52.5 N and 1.9 west , so 0.8w is about 1 degree east of you , your zero marker should point at about 2 west if there was a satellite there

so , make sure you plumb the pole first , then set your box to your usals figures above and select 0.8w thor bbc world news in your channel list , so that the motor moves to where it thinks 0.8w is for your location

the sat positions will NOT line up with the figures on the motor so stop making that simple mistake (you are not on the greenwich mean line)

with the motor locked onto 52.5 N and the box sending the motor to 0.8w for bbc world news , move the motor left and right and the dish slightly up or down until you get the channel , then peak the signal and lock up , now test other satellites , bearing in mind if there are any obstructions in the way (trees , brick walls , buildings etc) that they will block satellites

so its 52.5 N , 1.9 west (52.486 N latitude , and -1.8904 longitude) so ensure this is what is in your box
