firstly many thanks to B D and all who are involved that make owning the Spiderbox 6000 a must have Stb,while I am still letting all this sink in there may be many questions I speak for the people playing catch up with all this technology (ME),my first question before I make a cockup do I need to go thru the procedure of upgrading a new patch ie switching off lines/icks/wireless mode ect,I have updated the new patch from B D's latest post, will I need to upgrade via network to activate anything relevant to improving my 6000,again thanks to all the team, and before someone makes a derogatory comment on my intellectual ability I am sorry that this mere mortal is a little more aware of making a cockup and the consequences that follow the mistake, enjoy your Stb all,
To answer your questions:
do I need to go thru the procedure of upgrading a new patch ie switching off lines/icks/wireless mode ect, - Yes that is why they are written with every patch, follow the details to the word and you should not go wrong:
will I need to upgrade via network to activate anything - You Can use the Upgrade via Network, but you do not have to, if you are happier doing via the USB method then you can do so, using the Patch and the included instructions.
So the choice is yours, either way you will get the same result, ie, updating the existing patch with all of the newer modifications.

as mentioned above , if you read the instructions in the same post as the actual patch , it tells you in simple terms what to do (as it does in almost every other patch as well) IN RED
one of the biggest problems people face is not reading the information given to them , even though its been put in that post, I remember reading it last night when I "stickied" the patch thread , even though I do not own a 6000
whilst we accept that people may be beginners in this field , we assume that if they can type they can also read , so we expect them to have read the information presented on the forum , the subsequent questions should be about the interpretation or usage of the advice that has been read and digested and mulled over , not asking about stuff already written in a pre-emptive strike to try to deter questions like yours
so my advice ? - read the information given when using tools etc , including patches
good luck

The Upgrade By Network - Software Upgrade function doesn't work atm as we are fixing something.
I will announce it when it is ready.
*Can we please discuss in one thread for what concerns the latest patch ?

One can come lazy when loading patches, you tend to load as the norm until something is not quite right, and you realise that a different procedure, in this case powering the STB can throw you off, had me going for ten minutes before I read the thread properly and all was well, when I followed correct sequence
