Ok guys, just been on Goldwafers and I have seen some cheap sat boxes:

Spiderbox 6000HD
Head Medialink Black Panther Premium HD Challenger
Head Medialink Black Panther Galaxy

I usually buy decent boxes for myself - but this is for someone else - basically I just want a box where I can edit the channels myself, one that has a decent menu interface/epg guide and one where I can put a cline or n line in - i.e. it supports softcams and supports HD channels.

I am not too fussed on outside looks - just functionality and ease of use for a noob. Like I say I have never tested any of these boxes as I am use to using enigma/enigma 2 type boxes - so any recommendations would be good to get.

Cheers.

EPG wise you'll only get a now and next on the above mentioned boxes, mate.

All the above will accept clines and nlines.

Channel Lists are available to download from here for Spiderbox 6000.

If your mate wants EPG a Solo-SE would be a good choice.

HTH.

Vu+ solo2 with a simple image like blackhole. If my girlfriend can work it out then anyone can. It depends on your budget etc but Goldwafers always good service!

you will struggle to get a decent epg on any box apart from the linux ones, there are boxes like the TM5402/blade/DRD or ices that may allow epg download but VU etc are the best ones as you well know

if you ignore epg, the spider is excellent for the money and will do the usual tricks, although HD channels have "gone" on 28e leaving basically HD FTA on there only (same as on your boxes)

so the spider is good for the money , especially on a dark motor , has the tricks required and iptv streaming too , as well as a 12 month "gift" for none-28e channels, softcam and biss will work, as will c or n lions , channel editor exists for it, regular updates , built in wifi too

so a good all rounder for less than £70 delivered

but you wont beat a VU !!!!!

Ok thanks,

I have a vu+ duo 2 myself so am aware about what packages and things are available - It looks like a spiderbox it is then.

Thanks for taking the time to read and for your help guys.

Will endorse that configuration - or even cheaper if you went for a Vu+ Uno. Same basic firmware functionality just one feed.

Blackhole is an excellent image although I have just changed to Openvix and with the right skin selected like this even more.

You won't be disappointed just flick past the You**** and Redtube menu selections quickly. My wife wanted to know what they were doing on there when my son was flicking through the Spiderbox to look at IPTV ;-)

LOL - I've had to delete those plugins as well from my vu+ duo2 as the Girlfriends 9 year old daughter was asking what they were...I told her they were for cartoons but were not working anymore.
