Cannot allocate memory

Hi
When trying to install extensions, picons, etc, i get message 'cannot allocate memory' and dont understand why. tried on hard drive and flash with same result
Using apollo 29

picons and epg info and a swap file should be on a dedicated usb stick plugged into the back

one of the problems with a duo is running out of flash memory so not too many plugins etc and creative ways are needed to minimise the use of the flash mem preferably below 90%

Usb not showing in mount manager despite message when plugging in that there are no viewable files

Any ideas
