I am curious to hear peoples thoughts on the EPG on the Spiderbox 6000HD I in no way am criticizing BD and the team for there excellent work. Personally speaking I would rather have an improved epg system than IPTV films although most appreciated. I used to own the 7000HD in which an improved epg was available I don't know if this was available in the 9000. It seems this project has been abandoned perhaps it was problematic for the team anyway thoughts people please.

I was warned EGP was only now and next before I bought mine, didnt put me off :)

Minor flaw really, plus a lot of us already have tablets lying round our living room. My advice would be to use your tablet to read the tv guide, not great answer but gets you by. Heres a few sites ive found hope they help mate:-

the 7000 and 9000 boxes were 3 times the price of this 6000 box, even then the epg wasnt very good as the rytek downloads usually failed

anyone wanting a good 24/7 epg on 28e needs to look at the more expensive boxes that allow for it, typically between £120 and £400 and especially the vu linux boxes that use crossepg or similar plugins to achieve it

there are a few bespoke boxes that are between £100 and £150 that can also manage it , but you get what you pay for in this game

going back 12 or so years to my samsung 9500 viaci, which cost me over £400 , sd box and needed a cam and card and programmer , which by todays standards ould be £800 to £1000 in equivalence, I think the modern boxes offer excellent value for money , with more bells and whistles for a fraction of the price, with HD and 3D as well , plus IPTV and other options too

my modern vu duo is miles better than my sammy 9500 or my tm1500

I often want to take the sledge hammer that I use on PCs and printers that misbehave to the 6000 when I can't scan in one feed without having to clear out a load of transponders and channels.....but I always remember just in time that purely in £ for £ terms it is the best stb that I own!

I must be wrong in my approach then because I thought that was the fun this shall we say hobby. Battling to have total knowledge and pushing your box to the limits. I have to admit I push every box I have and have had to the limit and to top it all I don't watch tv. I quite happily spent an evening fiddling with keys (the box type) and trying to squeeze that last channel out of a sat. I suppose it's a hobby but it don't half tax the brain perfection will never be achieved.

From what I've saw on other sites the vu solo duo seems the best all round dual tuner box with good epg. Think I will invest in one and give the spider to my son, although the mrs. will be crapping a chicken when she fins out as he's only 8! :) I had sat in my room at about 10yrs old so cant refuse him really. Even if it did run off a ISA controller card on my 486dx66. Ooh the blistering speed lol.

lol

bear in mind that there are different models and not what you said above

there is the

uno

solo

duo

ultimo

solo 2

duo 2

the duo 2 is the flagship model at the moment , closely followed by the solo 2

I may also have missed some so dont take my list as gospel , lol (mine is a duo from goldwafers)

Would prefer one with internal drive bay for tidyness but will have a look closer to the time. Dual tuner is a must, think we have all been spoilt with red button record and series link! :) cheers for the heads up Echelon.

I'm definitely going for the Vu Solo SE I like the reviews and specs of the box but I noticed they're a new model. I've had a prowl about not a lot of support at the moment but I'm sure that will change. When I get it I'm going to get the sponsor on here to put Vix image on it seems the best for add-on and the more than holy 7 day EPG.
