My 6000 is doing the on/off (green/red) problem mentioned in several posts on here.
I have followed the recovery instructions i.e. connect an RS232 cable and HyperTerminal to it but I never get to the menu screen, instead it continues displaying a loop between app start / phase scan / debug version etc.
I am pressing the space bar every 0.5 seconds as instructed.
Anyone any other ideas please?

are you switching it on from the mains switch and then pressing spacebar ?
ie:- has to be cold booted from a power off scenario

Yes I am. I have also tried doing that and also pressing the front power button but no luck.
Also tried changing to putty and also things like changing ANSI settings etc

best to try it from a pc or desktop with built in rs232 9 pin com port running XP or Vista , as this could be the source of your problem, ie:- using modern windows versions or using a usb adapter or something similar
so null modem cable to 9 pin com port on XP pc is best

Hi
Seems like a connection problem, are you sure about your (Null Modem Cable) have you used is successfully before?
2. Turn off STB
3. Connect RS232 Cable to STB and PC and execute HyperTerminal (use a null modem cable)
4.Make new connection - make name
5.Select Com port
6.Set Speed and other (115200 – 8Bit – No parity – 1 StopBit – No HW control)
7. Press space on HyperTerminal every 0.5 seconds (half a second) from the time when turn on STB,
8. When HyperTerminal shows the below picture on PC, then stop pressing space.
9. It shows to ask to select one of menu from 3 menus.
10. Select “2. Upgrade Application with Xmodem”
11.. Select menu->Transfer->Send File in HyperTerminal
12. Set protocol Xmodem and select “navi_s_326su.flash.gz.gro.s tp” and press Send button

I have found that if you have a dodgy sat cable to your dish - the earth sometimes shorts out against the feed - this makes the box get stuck in standby or sometimes the red+green cycle.
It's best to remove ALL the cables to the box, and then just connect the RS232 + power supply cables, then flash the box via your PC.

You took the words right out of my mouth Echelon. I will endorse you are very knowledgeable!!! Was just going to post back.
My machine runs 64bit Windows 7 and I was suspecting whether it was an o/s and/or HyperTerminal issue (although it did the same with putty) so I connected it up to an XP machine and hey presto the menu came up and it reflashed ok

I was wondering if that is what caused this i.e. some build up of static. I got a bolt off another source this weekend which nearly took my hand off.

I'm not sure m8 - you could always check your box to make sure that there are no points on it where the centre feed for the f-type connecter is touching an earth - i.e. the base of the box - The base has been redesigned on the new boxes (maybe this is casing an issue - this is also speculation), if there is you could put a bit of plastic in there or paint with a bit of varnish etc.

no problem m8
we have been blogging about this on here for several years, with boxes like the tm1500 and probably many others too
you would find the same answers given in dozens of other threads and some sceptical members too, until they try it and it works
same applies with some routers and other home devices too
