A couple of days ago I got my first ever Spiderbox although I have seen similar boxes before.

I put in my correct USALS settings and can get the Spanish channels on 19 east ok.

I do not seem to be able to get most of the French or German channels on the same satellite however as the signal seems to be very weak.

I have checked the transponder details and they are correct.

The Polish and Italian channels are weak also on 13 east although slightly stronger than the French/German ones on 19 east.

If I use another box I can get all the above with very few problems.

The USALS settings are the same on all my boxes so its not that.

I have a 6000HD box.

Its a problem that is very frustrating.

Does anyone have any idea how to correct this ?

Thanks.

The first thing that springs to mind is that the new receiver's front end (tuner) is very insensitive, and has a much higher detection level than normal, as your test with another receiver seems to prove.

I don't think there's much you can do about the situation except take it back and exchange for another one.

The tuner in these boxes are fine m8 I have five different boxes and the Spider is the best tuner out them all. I would suggest you point your dish to Thor BBC world news and use the step method and see if you can increase the signal. If your successful then you'll need to alter your Longitude slightly. I've found the spider tuner is top notch better than most that are out there if this doesn't solve your problem then as mentioned by mahler return the box or wait on a reply on here to hear from Blackdevil.

You could try making your very own channel list by using the channel editor, and it will have all the very latest frequencies etc:

https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?167861-6000-Channel-Editor-2-1-1-29-06-14

or use the method posted by blackdevil:

Most simple way :

Menu - Upgrade By Network
Database Upgrade --> motor
Press red button

which will also have the very latest details included.

If it has been patched and pre-loaded with a channel list, then all I have to do is input my USALS settings and thats it is'nt it.

What else needs to be done if anything ?

Thanks.

Hello cannydo, I wasn't suggesting a global condition with Spider boxes, and I have three of them, all performing up to expectations, but there can always be a bad egg.

Hope you get it sorted m8.

Hi
1= Yes
2= Make sure your dish is setup correctly and 'follows the arc' to give good strong signals at both ends of motorized travel. In the UK (Hellas Sat2@39e to Hispasat @30w.)
You will get good signals from both these East and West Sats if Dish setup is correct.

also press the info button a couple of times to check signal and quality, and ensure you are using the latest patch which I think was late july 2014

try diseqc mode and stepping slightly left or right to peak the signal, also try altering the longitude usals setting by 0.1 degree steps left or right and checking signal levels each time, trying to see if you need to be slightly different to your other box , possibly trying up to plus or minus half a degree

another option is use it as a slave from the other receiver, put both on the same sat and channel and check both signal levels for a comparison
