hi all I no longer have my old pc with serial port for connecting a null modem cable to my hd6000 or any other receiver in case of recovery or firmware update.

is there a usb to serial connector to enable me to use rs32 cable with modern pc.

I do not know anyone with older pc.

thank you

I got one but could never get it to work, so have to hang on to an old Packard Bell tower on XP.

What you need is a USB to RS232 serial port cable (HL-340) does the job nicely, loads on flea-bay.

That's only half the story you also need a driver to make it work, W7 and I suspect W8 not only cant drive the connector but cant locate one off the net either.

I found one last year that works ok but I've done a factory restore since then and will have to find it again, I'll tack the link on here when I locate it.

Found it in minutes, read the feedback, everyone gets it working.

When I first used the usb to rs232 on win7 it worked ok, but every time afterwards it had to search for a driver and failed most times.

Loading the driver on my pc cured this and it works every time since.

thanks all I have ordered one from goldwafers and will see if it auto detects on win 7 my laptop is vista, I assume if I connect my older sbox9000 via rs port to pc it will show a connection, (without me actually running a repair file)

Try the driver on the link I posted, it works on xp and w7, vista should be ok.

For a few pennies more you can do what I did and buy the PCI card I just leave the cable in the port. That way your not hunting high and low for wherever you left it.
