Dead Spiderbox 9000 HD

After looking through the forum, am I right in thinking there is no quick fix for Spiderbox 9000 HD with just green light symptom with or without red light as well ? Tried the Recovery tool for Spiderbox 9000 HD and did not start. ( Have used the correct com port, equipment and software having had experience with fixing other Spiderboxes). Read somewhere that there was an internal fuse but did not see one. Comments / help/ advice welcomed . Thanks reni. :07:

Think Blackdevil is the only one to answer the fuse question hope I'm wrong m8. I would wait a day or two if nothing transpires Pm Blackdevil you never know till you try.

Surely BD is 6000hd concerned, not 9000hd which is another source based.

Might be wrong.

I would think that depends how long BD has been with the Spider team if not then he sure would be able to ask someone who was.

renibaterium problem is he cant't get the box to kick in to put any sort of list in at least I think that's his problem. Besides that there is a channel list for the 7000 9000 and 9900 here https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?168450-BillyBits-9000-7000-HD-Channel-List-14-08-14 all be it two month old.

No the problem is when the power is on the receiver is stuck with just the green front light on. I also had a red light on as well at one stage. The receiver does nothing else. no picture , no menu, it's a dead parrot ! But because the green light is on I am assuming that it's not the power supply. We did have lightening around the day before it went wrong. Any help appreciated. I really miss my 9000. Have got a 6000 as well but prefer the operation of the older Spiderbox.

Power surges from "dirty" mains supplies will kill a 9000. Lightning will destroy it.
There are different voltages coming from the power supply for different functions and unfortunately a led lighting is no guarantee that the power supply is healthy.
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I've come across a few of the older generation model spiderboxes that have ended up in the condition you describe where the recovery tool was no help, and they all ended up in the bin.

There are two cases.
First is the corruption of loading procedure that can be fixed with the recovery tool and the other is the electronic failure.
I think that you are in the second case.
If you have the knowledge, you can check the power supply pcb and replace the faulty capacitors,resistors,diode etc.
If the problem is in main supply pcb then you cannot do anything.

renibacterium m8 I have a 9000 HD it has been a brilliant box for me for the past few years, certainly sad to hear yours have pass away from the what blackdevil and others are stating ie. power supply problem. To make a positive from your misfortune I wandered if you could tell us if you left your receiver on standbye when not in use or did you turn off at the back, my reason for asking is that I have always turned mine off after use as echelon has always stated. Just wondered that if turned off at the back while thunder storm in the erea just might have saved your receiver from a power surge. This might help others for the future, thanks. Best johnhenry

@johnhenry, just to let you know this morning my 9000 would not power up, all I got was the red light at the front flashing.
I switched off last evening at the back of the box and from the mains which is what I always do when finished with the box daily.
It was a normal day, no power surge, no thunderstorms.

Hi Maurice, sad to hear of another 9000 HD having problems, thanks for your info. re how you operated your receiver. I to always power down at the back after use, no doudt your box was purchased around 3/4 years back like mine, so now when I switch on its a blessing to see the F100 go off and the channel number shows, just hope I can keep it going for another year. I suppose a receiver will only last a certain time I use mine every night have done so since I purchased it around 2011. Do you have another receiver in mind ! Best johnhenry

Hi johnhenry, yes I have a 9900 (no gift) and 6000HD with IKS so OK at the moment.

If mine was to go I would consider 6000 but have to say I have always thought the layout of the 9000 with double usb output at rear a real plus for connecting my hard drive, wires showing at the front a real attraction for tiny hands of the grand children, have to say the price is brilliant. best johnhenry

I always switched off (No Power) my Spiderbox. The strike affected one output of my Invacom C120 Twin LNB, knocked out the position sensor on my actuator (motor still works, but does not know where it is), destroyed 3 of 4 satellite receivers daisy chained together, the one that survived was the only one in stand by and first from the LNB, the other 3 were all power off, including the Spiderbox 9000 HD. Several were connected to my router (by wire) and the router was affected as well, but all lights worked on it. Lost broadband due to router. BT Telephone connection point was also thought to be affected and replaced. None of the equipment showed any signs of electrical burns/ blackening. If your electrical equipment is protected by a surge protection board, it looks like it ain't going to protect against a strike at the dish to the satellite cable or a surge via the phone line. reni

Thanks renibacterium, the strike was certainly an expensive one, so being turned off made no difference as you have said if it effects the LNB obviously pure bad luck. I will treat storms with more caution in future might pay to disconnect LNB if storm is quite close. Best johnhenry.
