afternoon all' just got a working stab h-h 90 motor giving to me from a good mate of mine' is it worth setting a motorised dish up for my spider' i currently have two sky dishes up at the moment one for the sky+hd sub box at 28.2e for my girlfriend & another for 19.2e and my spider goes into a 2 way disecq switch LNB1 - 28.2e and LNB2 19.2e' just wanted to know if im gonna really gain anything with a motor setup not sure what sats the spider gets with iks' i know hotbird is another that i can pick up on the 2nd dish if i turn it from 19.2e.many thanks

Coz its worth it :) There is quite a lot going on outside the usual sats (28,19,13) quite a lot of feeds on other positions (and your box is happy to handle them)

i would say yes...i only use 28 east..19east..13 east...and 0.8 west am on a 1metre dish so if i wanted i could use other sats
but like roadrunner says...other stuff out there...but you may struggle on 60-65 cm dish

Yeah it's worth it at the moment but c/s seem's to be taking a bit of a hammering at the moment,IPTV will probably take over in the end.. so enjoy while you can..[My opinion for wot it's worth]..

Regard's,

It's worth investing in a 80cm dish I did was only £30 and in my location I get 42e round to 30w. Worth the money m8 you've got a head start you have motor but you might need another pole.

just got a L shape wall bracket holds 80cm - 1 mtr looks very heavy duty indeed thick tube type' might just hang fire and wait till i get a 80cm could be a waste using the 60cm.cheers

i used to have a 80cm motorised setup about 10 years ago lol when we used to live at our girlfriends mams house' i had a tm 1500 super patched' had a nightmare setting it up like' the motor was the hardest part getting the longitude marking right on the back' on this stab motor iv'e got it says to set longitude on motor at 37.3° thats off there website when i put my postcode' im sure it has to be in the 50's mark

if you are in the UK you can easily get your latitude and longitude from your postcode in a map site like dishpointer

the uk will be in the early 50`s for LATITUDE and something like 2e to 4w for LONGITUDE

An astra 1 hotbird dish is the bare minimum to get good value out of the gift, 23e has some good stuff and 1w a little bit but obviously if you have space for a motorised one always comes up trumps with feeds etc.

Guys can I use a normal sat receiver to use the spider box, if not can you give me a list of what I would need to set all this up. I'm wanting to replace sky but ain't got a clue how to get around the cost. Heard spider box is the way forward to get all the channels needed and every premiership game

On my Spiderbox 9000 HD, my set up is as follows i have a 80 cm dish with 3 LNB'S fitted. I set up on 13e as my primary to align the dish, then i fitted my secondaries 19e and Thor 0.8w all connected to 4 to 1 down switch fitted to the frame of my dish. I scanned each satelite on to my receiver first starting in with position 1 Hotbird 13e, position 2 Astra 19e, position 3 Thor 0.8w, As for my Astra 28e i ran this from my sky mini dish (Sky LNB with 4 connections 2 of which went to HD Skybox the third connection on the Sky LNB is a spare) the 4th Sky LNB connection is then connected to the 4 position on the down switch and scanned to position 4 on the receiver. By using the Sky dish for 28e this gives room on the 80cm dish to easily fit the 3 LNB'S for 13e, 19e AND 0.8w. Obviously it depends where you are situated i am Norfolk Uk.

I suppose it depends on what viewing you require although 19e and 13e show quite a lot of footy they don't cover all games. Hence you would need more sats plus there's the feeds side as well all nearly on other sats, as I said depends on your viewing priorities. There is a lot lot more on other sats to satisfy even the most avid viewer it's the fun of the chase that matters try to get all channels drawn in. hehe

13e and 19e are the best bet with the spider.

well the story so far' been at it all weekend trying to set a motorized 80cm dish up' wall bracket was flush to the wall perfectly straight' motor was set at the right markings on latitude' i managed to get thor 0.8w bbc world news bang on as i have been told to set it up on a true south position which thor is more or less pointed at true south' put all the right info into the spider (LAT: 54.6°N LON: 1.3°W from stab website) here comes the problems' as soon as i go to another sat for example 28.2e the spider did not find it so i moved onto 19.2e and it found that but signal was weak also found 13e but that was weak again.i got that peed off trying all day yesterday again i took it all down and gave up.any ideas many thanks

Hi
Seems like tracking to me. Your dish pole must be 100% vertical all the way round it, even with the weight of the dish on it (spirit level), not just flush with the wall.

Having a motorized system is very beneficial to all us enthusiasts and we all would love to have one,to have such a system you must have an obstacle free clear sight of the horizon from a site of about 10 or 12 feet high to have safe easy access to dish by way of T bars and planks or a ladder (not recommended for safety reasons) as a meter dish requires maintenance and service regularly,if your dish position meets with those few safety points then get your bag of tools, your Laptop being logged in to Satpimps and away with you,and there's no doubt you will have made a wise decision, good luck

I agree with jbvid it sounds like your pole must be off m8 the more exact vertical your pole is the more sats you'll find. Your better to spend most of your time getting the pole perfect the more benefit in the end.

thanks jbvid' the dish pole/bracket seemed vertical' but did not check with spirit level & with weight of dish also mate' the dish was dead centre on the motor arm though.im beat:(

Vertical pole MUST be checked all round and be perfect m8 you can't throw this thing up hehe make the pole perfect pays dividends.

thanks guys' looks like im just gonna have to put my zone 1 with disecq switch back up for the time being as i was getting great results on either 13e 19.2e or 23.5e' its just sticking to one of them sats that has the most viewing options :drool5:
