hi all my present sb6000 gift expires soon, I have another from gw.
I intend to use the (expired box for fta and iptv) the latest box for iks etc
what I am not sure about is can I run 2 sb6000 from one router and how I set up the second newer box for internet connection.
can I just use the loop through on rear of spiderbox to connect both boxes and will this work ok?
idealy I might use a twin lnb to feed both boxes. (moterised system) at a later date
thank you

you can use loopthrough from box a to box b (sat coax)
put box A on standby when using box B
the ethernet or wifi will connect separately and each requires its own local lan IP address
so if using DHCP (on) each box obtains its own local IP address
a lan switch could be used if required for ethernet cables to plugin to
or run an ethernet from either or both boxes to the router as long as it has spare ethernet sockets
or use the inbuilt wifi instead
doesnt matter which connection is used although I would say wired is better than wifi

remember if boxes are next to each other the remote will control both boxes at the same time.

thank you both for replies, I will have to use wireless conection, my sky router is 12ft away from sb6000.
had not thought that one box would have to be in standby, as regards remote I could simply cover the sensor of one sb with tape.
I do not know what dhcp is and where on the sb settings menu it would be.
my idea was to be able to record on one box ,whilst watching say iptv on the other, but this I can see will not be possible if I use loop through.

Hi
You would need loop through for FTA viewing but you wouldn't need it for the IPTV only box. If you did this you would only need a Net connection occasionally for IPTV updates and you could also use both boxes at the same time on different TV's. This way you could record on one and watch on the other,

need separate sat feeds if wanting to use both indepebdently from each other with no restrictions on the viewable channels
also the remote controls would operate both boxes if near to each other or in the same room, so thats a good point made earlier
ideally its use them in different rooms, with separate coax feeds
as for dhcp, you could have googled it and found out what it is, but either your boxes will be set to AUTO (where they ask for an ip address from the router, like maybe your smartphone or tablet or laptop) , OR you set each one up yourself with its own manual ip address
I suspect you are using AUTO seeing as you dont know what it is and people are naturally lazy so dont look into these things generally
I prefer to have my devices on their own unique IP address , apart from smartphones and tablets etc
IPTV relies on an internet feed so that box wont need a sat coax UNLESS you want it to be able to watch say bbc1 etc from the dish feed as well as using it for iptv
so NO sat feed is needed for IPTV
