Hi there this is my first post. I have just received my vu solo 2 box with BH image installed . I'm having problems connecting my box via IP to vu control center. I have input my ip address, root, blank password, 80,21,23 then connect. The following message comes up- Access violation at adress!!!
I then carried out a network test on LAN connection where all boxes came back with a green tick. I've tried the above with various versions of control center but have had no success. Can anyone please point me in the correct direction???

Thanks in advance.

Check your receivers IP address, go into the receivers menu, Setup, System, Network, then select your connection, WLAN, Wireless, or LAN , cable connection, then select adapter settings and copy down your receivers IP address, usually something like 192.168.1.12

if youre ip is 192.168.0.2

try entering it as 192.168.000.002

use 3 numbers in all , using zeros to make it up.

Does he need to enter "80,21,23"?
I just enter "21"

@ scotia

have you tried entering youre ip as i stated above in my previous post , add 0(zeros) to make each group upto 3 didgets it was the only way i could get it to work last time i used the software.

its also in the instructions.

1. Run the VUCC.exe application.
2. Enter the IP address of your Vu+ in the IP Address field, example 192.168.1.5
If your using a private local IP address enter the IP like this: 010.000.000.001
3. If you have changed the password on your receiver, enter the password in the password field
otherwise leave blank.
4. Click Connect Button

try this method, pick up vu+ remote, go menu, setup, system, network, adapter settings, look at ip address, just below "use dhcp' , it will be 192 etc, write it down, then iF use dhcp says yes change it to no and press ok, then red. now enter that ip in vucc etc and bingo

are you running it from the folder you downloaded , or have you put them into youre c drive then run from there?

I have extracted the Vu folder onto my desktop then opened it up from there, is this correct?

Ok. I'll need to wait until the morning now before I give it a bash.

I'll let you know how I get on!

Thanks for your time 4x4!

I put the folder into my c drive and no change, still having the same issue. The part that I don't understand is that if my laptop and talk to the box and router ok through ping command then why it's not working.

I think imgoing to try an get a loan of someone else's laptop and give it a bash.i think I've exhausted all other avenues??

Have youi tried connecting using FileZilla?
You have the receivers IP address, for Host, 192.168.0.2, the username is root, ignore the password and click quick connect.

Use windows command prompt and type ipconfig /all and press return
You'll see a lot of other information but the important stuff is what is shown below.

C:\>ipconfig /all
Windows IP Configuration

Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

Is your default gateway and DHCP server and DNS servers all showing 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1?
If it's showing 192.168.1.1 then your receiver's IP is on a different subnet and that is why you can't connect.

Looking at your ipconfig info, everything is OK. Both Windows machine and Vu+ are on the same subnet.

Make sure your laptop firewall is allowing access to VuCC and FileZilla. I have a feeling you may have accidently selected deny access to these programs in your firewall and this is blocking them from connecting to the receiver.

scotia

If my firewall restricted access would this show up on command through PING, because all is returning normal when carried out and pc is talking to the box.
I switched off my firewall and still nothing although I have allowed access to vucc. I'm thinking of just returning my box as it's becoming a little to much time consuming.

There is nothing wrong with your box, the problem isn't with the receiver because it's connected to the network OK as you can ping it.

What happens when you enter the box IP in your browser URL window like this http://192.168.0.2

Is there anyway you can try the receiver on a friends, or families, network, using their router and PC? The receiver doesn't need connecting to a satellite dish, to connect to their network, and if it works you can then trace the problem to your laptop/software, or router settings, but please check your receivers IP address, in the Network menu, once plugged into their router.

Hda5,

Well I typed in the box ip and using the username root and password left blank it allows me access to my box. So confused as to why it won't then allow me to connect to vucc?

What happens when you type the following into your browser URL window ftp://192.168.0.2
