It may help others help you, if you say what os is on the laptop and did you record strait onto hard drive?
I use window 7 64 and my recordings are ok even with the windows media player? You could try another player?
Are you sure the ones that dont play on laptop play on spider?

I also don't get it then ? all recordings are same format so don't see why it would not play all unless they have gone corrupt? Failing ,trying another player I have no suggestions? Could be your hard drive if that's what your recording onto?

Surely this is not a spiderbox related problem, it is either your HDD or the Media Player that you are using, try another player and see if they work with that.

think you can only watch them in standard definition when you record them,i use mx player on my tablet and you can only play them in standard def.

Your best choice of media player is VLC it will play nearly anything you throw at it. Definitely not your Spider at fault as said above by Aldo.

The OP says that he is using VLC, it just maybe that the films it does not play are encrypted in some format that it does not play.

Some encrypted channels and some encrypted 4:2:2 feeds can be handled by media player classic.
Also download latest codec pack in your PC.

Sky movies and sky sports are the problem ones!

Do you have a subscription to Sly Movies or Sports, because the Spiderbox 6000 HD does Not Clear those channels, and if you do not have a Sub to Sly, then you have not recorded anything but a blank screen.

It records! It plays thru spiderbox but not on laptop! It shows file size but says it has no time length!
