Hi, Ive got a duo2 coming today that I've had from Goldwafers. I'm replacing a Dreambox, so this should be easy enough.

My concerns are, I'm having my channel master fitted next and this'll be set up with a 1224 motor and a V box. Do I need to back up the motor setting? I dont want to have to set this up on my own @ a later date, if I decide to change image or have problems. I've never used a V box before, thats why I'm asking.

Thanks in advance
Jase

How to setup Vu+ (https://www.goldwafers.co.uk/Vu-Vuplus/) with VBox II DiSEqC 1.2 Positioner.

If your VBox II already has the satellite positions stored and your changing from an old receiver to Vu+ (https://www.goldwafers.co.uk/Vu-Vuplus/) then follow this procedure.

Write down your VBox II satellite position numbers. These are the numbers displayed on the front of the VBox II when moving to a
specific satellite position. These position numbers can also be found in your old receivers motor (https://www.goldwafers.co.uk/Motors-and-Positioners/) setup menu.

Example lets say...
Position 1 on VBox II = Astra 19e
Position 2 on VBox II = Eutelsat W2 16e
Position 3 on VBox II = Hotbird 13e

You get the idea...

First send the dish to Astra 19e using Vbox II.

On Vu+ (https://www.goldwafers.co.uk/Vu-Vuplus/) Remote Press Menu
Select Setup Press OK
Select Service Searching Press OK
Select Tuner configuration Press OK
Select Tuner A Press OK

Now set Configuration Mode to Advanced. Use Left or Right keys on remote to select.

Configuration Mode: Advanced
Satellite: Astra 19e
LNB (https://www.goldwafers.co.uk/LNB-s/): 1
DiSEqC mode: 1.2

Scroll down to bottom of the page with the down arrow on remote.

Use USALS for this sat: No
Stored position: 001

Press OK to store.

OK that's Astra 19e setup now to setup Eutelsat W2 16e

Now send the dish to Eutelsat 16E using Vbox II.

Select Setup Press OK
Select Service Searching Press OK
Select Tuner configuration Press OK
Select Tuner A Press OK

Configuration Mode: Advanced
Satellite: Eutelsat W2 16e
LNB (https://www.goldwafers.co.uk/LNB-s/): 2
DiSEqC mode: 1.2

Scroll down to bottom of the page with the down arrow on remote.

Use USALS for this sat: No
Stored position: 002

Press OK to store.

OK that's Eutelsat W2 16e setup now to setup Hotbird 13e

Now send dish to Hotbird using Vbox II

Select Setup Press OK
Select Service Searching Press OK
Select Tuner configuration Press OK
Select Tuner A Press OK

Configuration Mode: Advanced
Satellite: Hotbird 13e
LNB (https://www.goldwafers.co.uk/LNB-s/): 3
DiSEqC mode: 1.2

Scroll down to bottom of the page with the down arrow on remote.

Use USALS for this sat: No
Stored position: 003

Press OK to store.

You get the idea, now repeat for the rest of the satellites and your done.

If you have never used a V-Box before then you have to start from scratch, Your installer should at least add a few satellites for you when the installation goes ahead as he would need to check the 1224 is tracking the extreme's of the ARC say 42° east to 45° west before the install is complete.

Install A motorised Channel list as you would with your dreambox say something like the excellent Catseye list and then start at your most central southerly position which would be something like 0.8° west and then follow Hda5's guide above

I'm guessing he'll do this when he sets it up. If not, thats a handy thing to have :respect-048: But If I can avoid having to do this again in the future all the better.

Is there nothing to back up then as such? Will these positions and numbers not be viewable in a file somewhere that I could print off?

As I said, I've never used this or any V box before.

Once you have setup all the satellites you require in your Vu Duo2 and they are stored with there corresponding positioner number then you can just use Dreambox edit to download your channel list from the Duo2 and then you will see which position number you have assigned for each satellite, Keep this as a backup and everytime you add another satellite to your V-Box make another channel list backup.

Thanks, I think I understand that. I'll know better once I have the box up and running.

You'll find it very easy, as I've got the same set up, VU+ Duo 2 and V-Box II.
Lee's guides, in the VU+ Duo 2 section, make it easy to follow.

Before you start backup your current config to USB and keep it just in case you can use it later.

Assuming the DUO2 will arrive 1st, restore your backed up config settings and away you go until the CM arrives and is fitted. Might be an idea to do a goto 0.

If the V-BOX is USALS compatible you could use that instead. Save a lot of time and headaches else once the CM arrives you may have to rethink your options and follow HDA5's guide above.

V-Box is a Diseqc 1.2 36v control box and drives an Actuator through 4 core cable and is not USALS compatible
